Luggage Drop At Canada Place

Is there a convenient way to drive to/into Canada Place to drop luggage for a Princess cruise and then leave to return a rental car or is it better to return the car and use a shuttle from the rental company to CP?

To clarify.... which rental agency...

  • Alamo/Enterprise/National... drive straight to the vehicle return. Elevator up to CS level for luggage drop.
  • others.... drive to terminal for luggage drop at CS level. You may choose to drop kids and spouse too. Drive out to return vehicle.... then walk or taxi back to you cruise terminal. If coming by cab, you might save time by asking driver to be let off at the Pan Pacific entrance.

Actually Keith since he's departing Vancouver OP is perfectly correct. Canada board is for Ports of Call, not Departure ports - so for a single board post this is exactly the right location. I'd much rather see a single post here than three posts asking the same Q on Alaska, Canada/Pacific AND here with corresponding multiple threads to keep track of...

As xlxo noted, if you can return your car at the pier then it's a no-brainer to do that. But for any other location, even the close-by downtown ones rather than out at YVR, the hassles with traffic getting in & out of the pier are best avoided. Most of the downtown offices will pay for a cab one-way rather than offer a shuttle - I think Enterprise are the only actual 'drive you somewhere themselves' people here. A $10 cab ride will get you to/from the pier from any of the downtown rental places.

If you're traveling with people who can manage to deal with your luggage and their own, dropping them off NEAR the pier but not inside it might be the easiest overall - e.g. at the Convention Centre a block to the west there's a nice long pull-in lane (just after the parking garage entrance in the middle-left of this image) that you can approach along Burrard St, turning left onto Canada Place and avoiding the hoachin' traffic on Howe who want into the pier.

There's an overhanging roof so even if your party just waits for you while you return the car they can stay dry if it's raining - walking to Canada Place just follow the sidewalk, and there are lots of photos & art pieces in the area if they're bored waiting for you.

Thanks so much for the replies. We're booked with AVIS for the one-way from SEATAC and planned to return car at their downtown Fairmont Hotel location. While the convention center drop-off might work, I think the taxi from AVIS will be the easiest option.
