Pricing confusion

I was doing a mock booking yesterday to see what the price would be if my daughter could go on the same cruise as us. When I was pricing an interior for 2 people (not the porthole, or the upper/lower ones) the price was approximately $770 per person. When I went back and priced it for 3 people in the same type of room it was around $825 per person. Why is it more per person for three, instead of it being the original price times three?????

During some peak, high demand times like Christmas and New Year holidays, summertime and spring break, the 3rd and 4th passenger rates will sometimes be priced higher than the 1st / 2nd depending on how a ship is filling up.

I've seen this on other cruise lines as well.

The price increase was before you even get to pick a room.

Prices quoted before cabin selection are for the lowest cost cabin in the category. So the price differential may be due to inventory changes. I.E. the lower priced cabins are no longer available.
