Hotel: Embassy Suites

For those looking for a nice hotel in San Juan, this time we did the Embassy Suites on Tartek. Was easy cab ride from airport about $16 with 2 people and 4 bags. We were able to walk to the beach about 10-15 mins and your chair/umbrella/ etc is provided by the hotel. We did not go but that was provided by them as info. We did do the afternoon/evening snacks and drinks which was nice. They have eateries at the hotel for lunch, dinner (their own and an Outback). a bar inside and at pool, a small casino also. Easy walk to a shopping center where there were other eateries.

We took a cab to Old San Juan about $20 and had it let us off down in the old district. There are free trolley/bus types to take you around thru the area. Ate at the Old Harbor Brewery for dinner while down there.

Note: traffic is very bad coming out of San Juan from lunch til about 8 p.m. It wasn't too bad going in....and was easy when we came back about 8:30 or so.

Thanks so much for info. Was actually looking at that for our winter break. Have only been to PR on cruise and was from 3-8pm Next one we are in all day so thought I"d take a look around and see what looked convenient

However, if you land in port for the day you will be at the pier at Old San Juan not the debark pier which is different.

If you land for the day, note there are free bus type trolleys around town to take you places. Look it up and take a copy with you. Ex. green line goes in one direction and such. Saves on the walking. Also Old Harbor Brewery is a nice place to take a break or eat a meal.
