Langoustine Posted August 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2016 Do you mean the hotel at 17 Seabring Street? If so, you might do better to take a taxi (assuming you can find one nearby) to the 9/11 Memorial, then a subway to Times Square. I'm told there is a shuttle to a nearby (that's a relative term in Brooklyn) subway station until 10 PM, so that may also work for you.
Andee Posted August 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2016 If you put the hotel's address into google maps, subway stations appear as little blue Ms.
KreinKrunker Posted August 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 28, 2016 Staying at Comfort inn in Red Hook on searing st how far to nearest subway station to get into town would like to see Memorial and times square at night Stayed there last fall, and they run a shuttle to the subway. My guess it's about 8-10 blocks. When you get back just call, and they will come to pick you up. I think the station was the one at Smith & 9th. We went to the Memorial, and to Rockefeller Center. When we were done, we hopped on the F train back to Brooklyn
138east Posted August 28, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 28, 2016 Here's the subway map. http://web.mta.info/nyct/maps/subwaymap.pdf If the station is Smith & 9th, you would take the F train to Jay St Metro Tech and transfer to the R train to Cortlandt St to get to the 911 Memorial area. The same R train can be taken uptown to Times Square. If you've wandered away from the Memorial area, the 2 or 3 train can be taken uptown to Times Square from Fulton St or the number 1 train uptown from Rector St or South Ferry. To get back to Smith & 9th, you want to walk east from Times Square to 6th Ave to pick up the downtown F train from Rockefeller Center (47th-50th St) or 42nd St.

KreinKrunker Posted August 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) If the station is Smith & 9th, you would take the F train to Jay St Metro Tech and transfer to the R train to Cortlandt St to get to the 911 Memorial area. To get back to Smith & 9th, you want to walk east from Times Square to 6th Ave to pick up the downtown F train from Rockefeller Center (47th-50th St) or 42nd St. This sounds like the route that we took. Then took the A-C to the F to Rockefeller Center. Any questions just ask the ticket agent, they were very helpful, as were most passengers on the subway. If Smith & 9th is the highest station on the line, being about 8 stories up, that's the one the hotel takes you to. Will be in New York again in October 2017. Brighton Line Posted August 29, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2016 T If Smith & 9th is the highest station on the line, being about 8 stories up, that's the one the hotel takes you to. Will be in New York again in October 2017. Smith and 9th is the highest station in the system. It has just been overhauled with the billion dollar viaduct reconstruction so the two sets of escalators to reach the stairs to the platform should be working. Before this it was a long walk up. One stop in the opposite direction is 4th Ave where the R train runs undergrond and there is an in system transfer, again more steps but you could take the F or the G one stop backwards to the R as well. Going towards Manhattan from Smith and 9th remember two trains stop at this station and you do not want to get on the G train. Jay street, you have to transfer to the R from the F, follow the signs. Coming back the transfer is at the Manhattan end of the R platform at the Metrotech/Jay street stop. There are stairs and escalators from the R platform to and from the Jay Street A/C/F station mezzanine. Jay street stop of A/C/F the near mid-platform for the stairs to the mezzanine, again follow signs. It's easier to transfer at Jay Street then 4th Ave (less walking/stairs) just have the going backwards option if there are service disruptions
