CHOICE AIR WARNING - Lufthansa Premium Economy

Just a word of warning with regard to booking Premium Economy on Choice Air on Lufthansa. I was researching options and found attractive pricing for PE seating vs. standard economy ($780 vs $600-something) for SFO-FRA-FCO routing. When going to the seat selection process when booking PE, it looked like a standard economy seat map. So I went back and changed my preferred cabin to standard economy from PE. Sure enough, the same seat map (standard economy) was presented no matter if you were booking standard economy or PE.

Next I went to Lufthansa's website and looked up the same flight (SFO-FRA), selecting PE as my preferred cabin. The LH website booked me into Business Class at Biz Class prices with a notation that PE wasn't offered on that flight.

Wondering if this was only a glitch on Choice Air for the SFO flights, I started checking other U.S. gateways (LAX, ORD, IAD). In each case Choice Air was selling PE seating at pricing higher than standard economy on flights that don't offer PE seating (I verified each against the LH website).

So buyer beware. Make sure you know the product you're buying is the real deal!

Yep, and Choice Air is ahead of the game charging PE prices for a product that doesn't always yet exist!

So glad I saw this post since I am looking at PE flights right now and would have never thought to check to see if it really exists.
