How many formal nights?

We have booked a 9 night Caribbean cruise on the Wind, departing FT. Lauderdale on December 12.

Does anyone know how many formal nights we should plan for, and what nights might they occur?

Do not worry too much about formal night.We just got off the Wind for an 11 night cruise,Two formal nights.We saw men in a sports jacket and t shirt under.Jeans with a sports jacket,The theme was if you had a sports jacket on you were let in.Women did seem to dress nicer but still no real formal attire.

I have noticed over the years that "formal nights" aren't what they used to be. Ladies used to be gowned in long dresses similar to what an opera singer or Shirley Bassey would wear. These days, although passengers do dress nicely it is slightly less formal than say 12 or 15 years ago.

For gentlemen, even the TUX isn't seen as much but I do think men look very handsome once dressed in their suits and it does compliment the ladies.

No it was in the main dining room.

Are formal nights much "less formal" on the Caribbean Itineraries?

On 7 day Caribbean, Alaska and maybe the Med., there are no Formal nights!

How about 11 night Caribbean? I have heard we will most likely have 2 nights.

Keep in mind that, like the old gray mare, formal nights ain't what they used to be!

I am now sailing on a ten day cruise on the Whisper, and much to my amazement, just about all the men were in dinner jackets at the Venetian Society party last evening. Most of the ladies were in cocktail dresses...very few long gowns anymore. Everyone I saw looked very spiffy!
