Best to post this on the Florida Departures Board where this item is discussed often.

This link will take you there.

For a family of four the Embassy Suites on 17th might be a good option for you.

If you did want a beach you could get one room for four people at the Lago Mar Resort.

We have stayed many times at the Embassy Suites -- handy to the Harbor Shops -- just behind Embassy Suites. Publix is there as well as Total Wine.

Embassy Suites has a separate living room with a big sofa bed for the children.

Free FULL breakfast in the morning.

We find it is easier to just take a taxi to the pier and cheaper than the shhuttle service that is offered.

Maybe you will luck out and get a room on the East side on floors 10, 11 or 12 -- over looks the ocean and you can see the ships.

Where do you like to stay before your cruise in Ft. Lauderdale? We are a family of 4, beach would be nice but not necessary. Maybe close to a grocery/wine store? Any help would be appreciated.:D

What price range are you looking for?

We just stayed at the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic! You should be able to get a room here in your price range with no problem.

My friend is posting her review now of our cruise and she has pics at the beginning of the hotel, including the view from mine & my hubby's room. Here is the link in case you'd like to sneak a peek:

Check out the Convention Center Holiday Inn Express. We stayed there last Feb. for 1 night pre-cruise.

It was VERY clean, the people at the front desk were very nice, and the location was great.

It's within walking distance of an Outback, a supermarket, and Total Wine.

They pick you up at the airport at no charge and can arrange for transportation to the cruise ship which costs $8/pp.

Have a wonderful cruise!

You don't want to use priceline for a family of 4--they only guarantee a hotel for 2. Hotwire can accommodate a family of 4 so there are no surprises.

Check out betterbidding.com for hints on what the hotwire hotels are. We have used priceline without problems for 3.5-4 star hotels in FLL and usually save 40-50% off rack rate:D
