Pre Pay Luggage

Can you pre pay your luggage any earlier than the 24 hour check in period,

We are flying Delta and would like to get this out of the way?

Your travel agent could collect payment through a Misc Charge Order (MCO) but not standard practice.

American has an undocumented policy that allows you to prepay over the phone $100/item.

It's probably better to wait til you are checking in anyway. Should something happen and you have to cancel or change your flights, it's one more thing that could fall through the cracks and be a hassle when it comes time to get a refund, future flight voucher, or new ticket that shows bag fees were already paid.

For that matter, I never pay until I get to the airport. If your flight is canceled after you prepay and the airline reroutes you onto a different airline (happened to a friend) it can take weeks to get your luggage fee back.
