lostinplace Posted February 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2008 Does anyone have the dinner menus for the 7 night southern on Serenade of the Seas? We'd like to book Chops when we get on and would like an idea of what night to skip the dinning room (based on the least interesing menu). Thanks! waterbugohio Posted February 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2008 I would also like the menus for the same reason. From some of the reviews I have read it sounds like "Caribbean Night" is the least desirable. But we need to find out when that is.

Pomperaugrr Posted February 26, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2008 That's correct, there was no Caribbean night on our recent sailing on the Serenade. We were very happy with the quality of both the food and service on the Serenade. Everything was served at the proper temperature. Taste and texture were very good. We opted to do the murder mystery dinner on the Serenade this past January. It was a fun event for $49 p/p and started in the Safari Club, then on to Portofino for dinner and (plenty of) wine. That was on a Tuesday evening. Eric

How do you find out if it's happening on the cruise and where do you sign up? Thanks! (and the plenty of wine part doesn't hurt either)
CLQ Posted February 26, 2008 #9 Share Posted February 26, 2008 This is a great thread. We'll be on board in less than 3 weeks. We're interested in hearing more about the Murder Mystery night. We've never done that. The menu above reminded me about the Vidalia Onion Tart on night one. I'm less than 3 weeks away from the little Savory Bites, too. jaxbeach12 Posted February 27, 2008 #11 Share Posted February 27, 2008 Anyone that has been on the Serenade recently that could tell me if this menu the same? Also which nights were the formal nights? Thank you
Bonnie Voyager Posted February 27, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 27, 2008 My husband will be so sad if there is no Key lime pie anymore! :( By the way, I am one of the oddballs that loved "Caribbean" night! I thought the Jerk Chicken was yummy! We always skipped "Venetian" night to go to Portofino, trading good Italian for GREAT Italian! :D
Pomperaugrr Posted February 27, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 27, 2008 There is still Key Lime pie, as of our January 19th sailing. The murder mystery dinner is fun. The entertainment staff (mostly dancers/singers) are the actors. You bring your invitation to the Safari Club and are served champagne and canapes. While you are enjoying that, the show begins. There is a bit of audience participation. I even got called up out of my seat to "participate" in front of everyone. I won't give away what happens during that part, but suffice it to say that there were about 85 people that shouted out "Hi Eric" every thime they saw me for the rest of the cruise. After the "murder" takes place, everyone proceeds to Portofino. They serve a very nice 5 course meal. My wine glass was never empty, despite a valiant attempt on my part to drain it. ;) You and your tablemates discuss what happened and develop theories. Later, toward the end of dinner, you have a chance to question the suspects and decide who the guilty one is. It is well done and exceeded my expectations of what to expect from a cruise show like this. The more the audience gets involved, the more fun it is for everyone. The actors enjoy the opportunity for improvisation. We felt it was definitely worth the cost. Book it early, as it sells out quickly. Eric
lostinplace Posted February 28, 2008 Author #14 Share Posted February 28, 2008 Eric- Thanks for the info. It sounds like a great deal if it includes wine with dinner, especially if it keeps coming. Where do you sign up for the dinner?
