Stavenger Norway

Recommended Posts

We will be arriving in Stavenger on the Legend of the Seas in early September and have looked at doing an excursion to cruise the Lysefjord and to view Pulpit Rock. Does the cruise ship pass by this on the way into port or is this something you can only see doing an excursion?

We think that it would be best viewed by a smaller boat like we did last September. There is on leaving at 2 pm on the day that you are in port and you can book it directly and save some money. Here's a map that shows the route to Pulpit Rock.

This is the port and the blue boat in the center left is where you will board.

The smaller boats can get much closer to the waterfall than the cruise ship.

Here's a video clip of how close the boat will come to the lower part of the falls.

I highly doubt that a relatively big ship like the Legend will travel up the Lysefjorden.

Stavanger was one of our stops in our Iceland and Norway cruise. We took a smaller ferry from the port. Very easy and convenient.
