Rare vino100 Posted January 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2013 I will be going to lamanai next month and am wondering if tennis shoes or sturdy sandals would be better for the tour. Thanks.

Travel Girl TX Posted January 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2013 I wore "teva" like sturdy sandals that cover my toes. They worked very well with all the walking and climbing to the top of the big pyramid. I would not wear any flimsy shoe. Whatever shoes you wear must be very secure on your feet, cover your toes, and be ok with getting muddy. We were there in December and some of the walking paths were muddy due to recent showers. chill6x6 Posted January 20, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2013 Definitely NOT sandals! We made the mistake of wearing sandals. Will be a good bit of walking, could be on the muddy/slick side which is was when we were there, LOTS of ants, and if you have ANY intentions of walking up the ruin(which you may) sandals/flip flops ain't gonna cut it. It I had it to do over again it would be tennis shoes all the way and not my best ones! ;)
Floridiana Posted January 20, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2013 I wore tennis shoes. The paths were slightly muddy. I had sturdy walking sandals and they would have been fine in Chacchoben. (Costa Maya, Mexico)
Rare vino100 Posted January 21, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Thank you everyone. I guess I will be wearing tennis shoes. :D
pdmlynek Posted April 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2013 For Lamanai we wore hiking boots. Tennis shoes seem just too flimsy, with no ankle support.
logan25 Posted April 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 8, 2013 Tennis shoes or jogging shoes worked for us to walk the trails and climb the tallest ruin structure.
