Airport transfer in Venice?

Does anyone have experience getting from the port in Venice to the airport? Can we purchase a transfer while on board the Equinox before departure from the ship? If not, what is our best and most cost effective option to the Venice airport?

Thanks in advance for the replies! :)

As soon as you get your bags and walk out of the terminal, you will see a yellow counter which has Prepaid Taxis. Since we were 4 of us, we decided to take the Taxi which costs around 45 Euros. The cab was large and easily managed to fit in 4 big bags. The ride was just 30 minutes.

We felt this was easier than taking walking to the people-mover (short 5 minute walk), taking the people mover to the Piazza de Roma stop (1 stop, 1.3 Euros per person for a 1 way trip), a 2 minute walk to the bus station across the road, and then the bus drive to the airport (20-30 minutes). In 2013 we took this route and it cost us around 15 Euros per person.

Walk from the terminal to the people mover, about 2/3 minutes at most.

People mover to next stop €2

You are then at the small square where the buses are.

Bus to station €5

So €7 each

Same in reverse to get to ship, except you can buy a bus ticket at the airport from machines in the hall where the luggage conveyor belts are. So you can purchase your ticket while you wait for your suitcase to arrive.

How many are in your party? How much luggage? How "mobile" is your party? What time is your flight? These will all affect what kind of transportation is "easiest" for you.

We sailed on the Silhouette in June and they were charging $34 for the Celebrity shuttle.

We had way too much luggage and my mom has mobility issues, so I did not want to do the People Mover etc. We were planning on taking a taxi, but with a party of 7, we would need 2. So, it ended up being more economical to book a private van to pick us up. This worked out great for us. We walked right off the ship, found our luggage in the terminal, walked outside and saw our driver waiting for us. It was about a 15-20 minute to the airport.
