Assuming you're from the UK, if you go onto www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice you can find all the current Foreign Office advice, country by country, on entry requirements, health, risks and so on, but as John says, you probably won't need anything for 'normal' ports of call.

ESTA is only applicable if you are from a country that is part of the visa waiver program and I can't tell where the op is from.

 

Please note an ESTA does not entitle the bearer to automatic entry into the USA. ESTA stands for 'Electronic System for Travel Authorisation' which means if you are eligible to travel, then authorised to travel to the USA but it is still down to immigration officials at the border whether you are granted entry when you present yourself to them. It is not a replacement for a visa.
