MrsMath_NS Posted August 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2014 My husband and I are both teachers and go for a cruise each March on our break (RCI fans, we've sailed on Monarch '12, Liberty '13 and Enchantment '14). This year we're looking at Brilliance of the Seas and we are debating getting a suite. I understand that there aren't any perks to a Junior Suite other than having it be a bit larger and we are wondering if it's worth the extra money to get a Grande Suite? And if anyone out there reading this has *been* in a grand suite on one of the Radiance-class ships, we are wondering if there are noise issues being near the elevators / under the pool deck (ie when the deck chairs are being moved around). Thanks a bunch!

Thanks a bunch! We've been in a GS on Radiance..and much prefer the JS (perks aren't a consideration as we're D+)..love the walkin closet area of the JS as opposed to the useless bar area and limited access to the closet of the GS. We've never had any noise issue's regardless of the many location's we've had on deck #10. Edited August 3, 2014 by Ashland
cb at sea Posted August 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2014 We, too, think a JS is great. Most like a hotel room, and the walkin closet is fantastic. The only "monetary" perk of the Gs is the drinks for 2 hours in the evening. For the money you save on the JS, you can buy those drinks and still come out ahead. JimAOk1945 Posted August 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2014 We were in a GS on the Radiance of the Seas and loved every minute of it. We were in and out of the Concierge Lounge a lot. One of the things we enjoyed was the specialty coffee. There were a couple of times when we had some problems with reservations and the Concierge helped us. That's another perk we liked, not having to stand in line at the Customer Service Desk. I could go on for quite a while about how helpful the Concierge is. Go for it. I think you will enjoy it! dorisis Posted August 5, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2014 As Diamond cruisers we prefer the Jr's. Saving money for other items.
JimAOk1945 Posted August 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2014 Something else to consider about booking a suite: Complimentary full breakfast in the comfort of one of the specialty restaurants on the morning of your last day on the ship. It great to sit and enjoy it while the Concierge waits to hear that he/she can escort the entire group down to the deck to leave the ship. During your cruise, you will also be able to eat complimentary breakfast and lunch in one of the specialty restaurants. (On our cruises, we ate the above meals in the Chops restaurant.) Also, as a suite guest, you will have reserved seating for the shows. Happy cruising!
