hello,

Going on our first cruise on Aug 28. On Sunshine.

I have a few question to ask.

1) do you think that sailing will have massive amounts of kids?

2) what is the weather like late august in Halifax &a Nova Scotia?

3) and recommended must do/see in those ports?

4) I live in Central NJ. Looking for a car service for round trip transportation to and from the port. We are a group of 8 so o guess a van would

Work.

😊

I can answer #2, since I live in Nova Scotia!

First, let me say that Halifax is a city in the province of Nova Scotia. I think maybe your cruise goes to St John, a city in the province of New Brunswick, and then to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Anyway, it's summer here and the weather is good. Temperatures can vary quite a bit, from mid-fifties to mid-eighties farenheit. The east coast is prone to fog, so that can bring temps down. But quite often, the fog is only at the coast, so if you take an excursion, or rent a car yourself, further inland the sun can be shining brightly.

We don't usually experience full-on hurricanes when they pass through, but they do cause windy, rainy days, so keep that in mind if there's any storms moving along the east coast.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Canada!

Shameless plug - we just got off the Sunshine doing that itinerary and are in the middle of doing a review. It's on the front page now but you can also find a link to it in my signature.

To answer your questions.

1) We didn't notice a ton of kids on our cruise, except at the main pool. School will already be in session in some places, and for places where school isn't session, I'd think it's too close to go on a cruise. I'd expect to see even fewer kids on your sailing.

2) The weather happened to be perfect at the stops when we were there. Like terri-eddie said though, the area is fog prone, and the fog banks can sneak up quickly.

3) In St. John we rented a car and went to the Fundy Trail Parkway. In Halifax we caught a cab to the Citadel, then walked down to the casino and walked back to the ship via Harbourwalk. We highly recommend everything we did, but Halifax also has excursions to Peggy's Cove, which is pretty popular. You could also rent a car to get there.

4) Can't really speak to this. We drove up to NY and parked at the pier for $200 for the 5 days.
