Hi, we are boarding RCI Mariner of the Seas at Baoshan and wanted to hear others experience.

We are D+ in a JR Suite so, is there priority boarding available?

We planned on getting to the port around 10 - 11am to try and beat the crowds. I've heard it turns into a bit of a crush trying to get into the terminal.

I'd love to hear the experience and advice of those who have boarded here.

Thanks!

I haven't embarked, but I've gone out there to see people off for a Costa cruise.

Yes, there was quite a crush at the terminal. Sorry, I can't offer more than that. ;)

I have a couple of photos I can upload later if you wish.

Hi Joandian,

We boarded Celebrity at the start of out Transpacific in 2013. I thought the port was ok and not as bad as I expected. It was nothing like our experience of some ports in South American and Africa so I wouldn't worry too much. We stayed 5 nights in Shanghai and asked the hotel to book us a taxi to Baoshan after breakfast. I think we arrived around lunchtime and it wasn't too busy. I remember having to go to a photocopier to copy our passports (not sure why!). We are elite but that seemed to make no difference to the process at all! We got given a plastic number and then straight away another person took it off of us. There seemed to be some creative job creation going on! Anyways we did have to queue up a bit but I don't think the whole process from arrival to being on our balcony took more than 2 hours. It was held up by an American guy refusing to let the Celebrity staff take his passport from him! Anyway I hope this helps. BTW there was a couple of stalls with ladies selling souvenirs just as we were about to get onboar after all the security. Hope this helps you out. Regards John

Thanks John, I appreciate the information. We have booked a private transfer to the port and since it is Golden Week in China he suggests we arrive at the port around 10.30, so that is what we will do. I'll look for the souvenir ladies and make copies of our passports!

Jo
