My husband and I are about to reserve our first cruise for March 2010. Please help me choose a room, I would like a balcony and we were considering the spa level. So those with some experience please offer up your favorite option. We are hoping to book this weekend. Thanks for all your help here and throughout the forum.

Take care

MOST of us will suggest midship, on a deck between other cabins.. Meaning cabins above and below, for a first cruise!:)

Have never had a Spa cabin, as we prefer aft cabins, which over-look the aft of the ship!:p We like to see 'where we've been'.. ;)

Well did you book?

The higher you go the more you pay:

the more you pay the more you sway.

For a first timer-- you wont be in the cabin that much.

there will be too much out and about to keep you busy- you will be afraid you will be missing something.

We are booked on the Freedom come March 7th---have you looked at airfare?? (wowser)

I found my way back, I have been reading the volumes of information trying to make certain I have made the right choice and planning our March 1st cruise. We went with Spa 1115, other then the possibility of being assaulted from above I haven't found anything to make me worry. I am actually one of those people who will be spending time in my cabin, I could lay in and read for the five day cruise if my husband would allow it. However we got our cabin and now we are trying to figure out what to do in cozumel and progeso. Thanks for your help everyone:) - Thea

Luckily we are driving down and spare the airfare.

Just ran across this thread and wanted to tell you that we have the same cabin booked for 2/13/10 so we'll let you know how it is! We cruised on the Carnival Glory this past Feb and had 1115 on the Spa deck and the room was great. Those rooms have not yet been converted to balcony but with floor to ceiling windows it was still awesome. Also, being so high up was noooo problem... no swaying issues although we did have good weather! Let me know if you have any other questions about Spa Deck!!

We sailed this ship two years ago with our 8month old daughter. We were first on deck 6 with a balcony, but the music from the casino bar was so loud it woke my daughter up. We called the purser desk and they actually had another balcony room available on deck 7....we moved to deck seven to room 7212 and we loved it! Great location!

I've been on the Triumph twice, once before the renovation and once after. The first time I traveled with 10 people, and 6 of us shared two suites 7267 and 7269 (3 people in each). I actually met someone I started dating in 7271 (he was part of a 10 person bachelor party and 5 of them stayed in that room, so they had an extra mattress for the floor but I wouldn't recommend more than 3-4 people). All three suites were fantastic. I loved the views, they have the larger bathroom and dressing room area, the mini-bar (these rooms have a fridge and the regular rooms don't), and the balconies were great. We connected the balconies so it was really fabulous and a great gathering area for our groups. I would definitely recommend these rooms and others like it!!!!! PS my other cruise-mates stayed in a regular balcony room on 7, which was alright, and an aft balcony room on 8 I think - that room was pretty cool.

Last time I traveled alone and stayed in a regular balcony room 8358. It was nice for being by myself, but it was not like the suite. I especially missed the the fridge and bigger bathroom vanity area and tub (this one has just a shower so not as much space to move around).

I see a lot of different suggestions here and my husband and I have talked about it. We are going on our first cruise on the Triumph and so many people have said you won't be in your room much at all, mainly to clean up and sleep (especially being our first). This is also my first time seeing the ocean. At first we were going to spend the money and get a balcony. But then I got to thinking that I could save that money and do more with it on the ship like drink tickets or the extras. So then we debated on ocean view vs. interior. I see people say the more you pay the more you sway so maybe an interior would be less motion for us, not knowing what to expect. So thinking back to your first cruise, or even now, did you spend much time in your room? About how much do you account for extra's on the ship (because I heard certain shows can cost)?

We have sailed on the Triumph along with many other Carnival ships [Platinum Members] and we like the Balcony cabins on the Lido deck on the Triumph. They are just a short walk to all the action on the Lido deck and the Buffet. Spa deck is also very nice and maybe just a wee bit less noisy, although we never had a problem with noise. as far as sway goes, again we have never had a problem but it is true that the lower you are the less movement you may feel. Just check out the decks above and below you. You want to avoid being below the pool area or above or below the theater or the disco. Just remember nothing is perfect overlook the minor annoyances that happen and just have great time. Ps. Below the buffet is ok as the buffet gets quiet at night. You won't spend much time in your cabin during the day.

Thank you for the advice. I did book an interior room because the prices were trending up and I didn't want to miss the boat...a little pun intended:D. I did hear that there would be opportunity for us to upgrade though so I think we may do that, especially after the expense of Christmas is over. I debated over and over on what to do with booking interior vs balcony. I heard we wouldn't be in our room enough to enjoy the balcony, but now we are hearing a little different. So have you ever had an interior? Do you spend more time in your room because of the balcony?

I've never been on the Triumph but I'll be going in Jan. 2015. My husband and I were on the Magic in April and we were in a cove balcony and I really enjoyed it. The main reason we booked a balcony was so my husband could smoke which you are not allowed to do anymore. My husband spent more time in the room than I did. I was either by the pool, at shows or shopping. :) He doesn't care for the whole cruise thing that's why I'll be taking my son with me in January for our bdays. I booked an oceanview since I wasn't in the room a lot. It was hard not booking a balcony and I could bring myself to book an interior. I guess it won't be long and we'll see how it goes. Which it can't be bad after all I'm on a cruise. :)

if this is your first cruise-- stay with what you have. First cruisers tend to be out and about not missing a minute of their vacations.

I think that you may be right about this. And maybe it would be better for us just to see for ourselves how much we would use it or like it. I did have someone tell me that the deck is usually so busy that you can't find chairs together all the time, I wonder if that is really an issue or not? I look at pictures other people take and it looks like there is plenty of seating everywhere.

On sea days many people get up early and throw their stuff on chairs. Carnival is good with the 45 minute rule so if you see chairs with stuff for over 45 minutes bring it to a crew members attention.

You will have a hard time finding chairs by the pool but if you go up by the slide-- you will not have a hard time finding two chairs.

So its pretty split. I guess people put their stuff on chairs to save them all day or something? Thats too bad because some people would just want to enjoy it for short periods. Thank you for the advice. I don't really see us sitting for real long periods of time, sometimes we are like children on vacations. But then again we can also get in the mood to lounge.

I sailed the Triumph last yr and stayed in cabin 6275. It was a balcony and it was my first solo. I got an unbelievable rate and couldn't pass it up. I did hear a little music coming from the casino band but nothing the tv couldn't drown out. I'm going again on the Triumph in April w my dd and now that I am unable to enjoy my morning coffee and cigarette on my balcony, I am staying in my first interior cabin 7277. I am a bit claustrophobic but I am looking forward to the very dark sleeping quarters. Anyone have experience w Empress deck midship interior cabins?
