Park at Fulton Garage a day early?

We are arriving in NO the morning before our cruise and staying at a hotel that I believe is walkable from Fulton St. Garage. Can we park in the garage in the rooftop cruise parking the day before the cruise and just walk over from the hotel with our luggage to take the Fulton

shuttle to the port on the day of departure? Didn't know if rooftop parking is normally full because of the cruise that hasn't returned yet?

Did this in March. They give you a quick look at first because they know exactly when the cruises come and go but there is no issue with it. Just book your reservation for the 8 days on the website.

I actually dropped the wife and luggage at the hotel first and then parked the car in Fulton garage and walked to the hotel.

That is awesome - exactly what we wanted to do, but I wasn't sure we could. Thanks so much for the info!

No problem. Glad I could help. I had this exact same concern before I did it the first time. :)

Another secret is that you can pay for the cheaper roof parking and end up parking in covered parking. Just ask them when you enter the garage: "What if the roof is full when I get up there?" and they will tell you a couple of levels to park on if the roof is full. I would have to look it up but I seem to remember it being something like levels 6, 7, or 8. Once you get up there just park on one of those levels and don't bother going up to the roof. The roof does fill up all the time and they know that. They are easy going there and it will not be an issue. They will also tell you where NOT to park so definitely pay attention to that. :)

We did this a couple of years ago and was actually able to get a reduced rate for the first night when we showed them our receipt from our hotel (Hilton Garden Inn, I believe) that was across from the garage.

Another tip: We usually pack a bag for just what we will need the night in the hotel so that we don't have to drag all of our big luggage in with us. The next morning, we take it back to the vehicle, grab our cruise luggage, then head downstairs to the shuttles. Easy peasy. :D

This is exactly what I was wondering as well. We are staying in the Riverside Hilton the night before and their parking is $31.25 a night for self-park!! Appreciate the info!!

So, what's the best website for booking Fulton parking?

I always go a day ahead and do it. Make sure you check the check out date. One time I didn't check that the had the check out date correct till I parked the can and had to go down and get it fix. I always do the roof top for 8 dollars a night but I think you have to book on line. That is what I do anyway but my friend try to just drive up and the wouldn't let him do it

Does anyone know if there is handicap parking on the roof? Or are the handicap spots on a lower level? The lower the better, as my wife has had knee replacements and cannot walk great distances. And are there elevators readily available?
