havoc315 Posted August 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2017 So I added this lens to my kit a couple months ago.... I don't usually post like this, but this is a rather novel lens. To my knowledge, it is the widest full frame prime lens that you can buy. The only other lens that is this wide, is the Canon 11-24. The Irix firefly is under $600, while the Canon is nearly $2800, and the Canon is twice the weight. And of course, the Canon isn't available for Nikon. So if you're a Nikon shooter, your options are the wonderful Nikon 14-24.. but that is about $2,000 and much heavier.. Sigma has a new 14/1.8 -- looks fantastic, but again, super expensive and super heavy... and not nearly as wide.. There is a great Rokinon 14mm.. light weight, cheaper than the Irix.. but it's 14mm, not 11.. There is the Venus Laowa 12/2.8 -- this looks interesting. But it still costs more than the Irix, and it's not as wide. Finally... there is the Sigma 12-24.. and for Sony shooters, the Sony 12-24. The Sigma 12-24 is again much more expensive and much heavier.. and NOT 11mm. The Sony 12-24 looks great... lightweight... 12mm.. but it's not 11mm, and still costs a lot more than the Irix firefly.. So how did the Irix do, for cruise and vacation?
