Taxi vs bus, price comparison & ease, 5 of us ages 60-84

Since you would have to walk about 15 minutes for the average adult to catch the bus I would suggest a taxi for your group. The bus would be cheaper of course but taxi would win for ease and choice and freedom.

When you say "bus" on St. Maarten, you are talking about a van, possibly not air-conditioned, possibly no remaining shock absorbers, and possibly already pretty full, making stops where-ever people want to get on or off. There is no comparison with what "bus" means in the US.

 

Spring for a taxi: much more comfortable, much less time getting you where you want to go, a little more expensive.
