?Carnival Ocean Player's Club Perks???players rating

New to cruise slot playing does anyone have any other insight into how Carnival rates players? I have begun spending my 'entertainment' money on cruise ships versus land locked casinos - however I am finding the system of rewards for such 'entertainment' difficult to understand. I accumulate about 3500 to 4000 points (the cash in varies by win/loss ratio) per cruise (4 each year for the past two years) on 5 to 7 day cruises. All on Carnival - this past cruise (just got off today) is the only one I was given any special gift (choc covered strawberries), but I did not receive any "bounce back" letter like I have on previous cruises - yet people who had less points than me got letters (this is witnessed not heresay!) Does anyone know how their system operates? Usually the land locked casinos give you at least an outline of their perks and levels!!!

Thanks for any intel anyone may have!!

I am not complaining - but willing to jump ships!!!

All in the name of fun!!!!

:o

Will keep playing, thanks for the information. I had not given it a ton of thought but on the last night of the cruise a few players i had met told me I would definately get a letter with at least a bounce back cruise offer - and as I walked by all the cabins back to mine I saw the "PLayers club" letters in the mailboxes but none in mine~:(, maybe next time.

Unlike many US land based casinos, the Ocean Players club does not outline what the majority of their comps are for players.

The exceptions are the Drinks on Us card and the cash you earn through points.

Wine, strawberries, photos, free cruises, premier cruise offers, etc are really anyone's guess.

You should know that Carnival does not always let you know that you are eligible for a perk. Assuming that you used your S&S card to sign in before playing slots, that many points probably made you eligible for some casino cash on your next cruise. Unless it's part of a promotional booking, they don't tell you about it. On every cruise, you should ALWAYS visit the cashier at the beginning of the cruise and ask if you have any perks available. Even if you go to the casino for something else, they STILL won't tell you if you are eligible for a perk UNLESS YOU SPECIFICALLY ASK. And be aware it is NOT a cumulative program. They only look at your MOST RECENT cruise points. Any points earned before that are gone, whether you claimed a perk from it or not.

And those letters don't always make it in the mailbox. Sometimes the casino hosts will hold a few and look for you in the casino. If they miss you, you may not get the letter before the next morning. You can wait for about 10 days after your cruise and email casino@carnival.com and ask if you are eligible for any perks based on your recent cruise. Even so, don't forget to visit the cashier on the first day of your cruise.

I sailed out of New Orleans 1-5-15 on the Dream and stayed at Harrahs the night before and won $6500, so I had plenty of "play"money for the Dream casino. I had to go up to the Casino cage to get my "Drinks onUs " card at 1500 points (I have anyways had a casino host bring it to my slot game as soon as I earned it before)

As I kept earning points I was wondering why I was not getting any "treats" that I received with less points on other cruises and on the last night I asked at the cage if I had a letter or any perks for playing (I had 7500 points)

They had a letter with a free up to 15 day cruise there for me that I would have NEVER even known about had I not ASKED. Also got a bottle of wine in the MDR that night from the Casino that they said they "forgot" about. :)

Moral = ALWAYS ASK!!!! lol

John Heald did say on Facebook a few weeks ago that you qualify for Premier cruises by accumulating 7500 points in a 12 month period. So I guess that this is one instance that your points do carry over from cruise to cruise. It also de-mystified how you are able to receive the Premier offerings.

Except that I haven't set foot on a Carnival cruise since October 2012 and I just received (January 2015) Premier casino cruise offers (as did my mother with the same last Carnival sailing date). Unless they are using a really wonky 12 month period (i.e. October 2012 to September 2013) I don't see that being a hard and fast rule for the Ocean's Players Club.

I haven't gambled on Carnival in more than 2 years so how am I still getting Premier cruise offers?

And to add to that - when I sent an email to the players club asking if I would have anything on my upcoming cruise from the casino, the answer was "No."

So, 25% discounted cruise plus $600 cash for select sailing but nothing for any other.

How do you receive these premier cruise offers, is it via email or letter or phone call? And what exactly is that offer? Free cruise? Discounted cruise?

I ask because my husband and I gambled a lot on our last cruise, my husband earned more points (was winning more so had more to put back) and he got an offer to book a quick turnaround cruise for free, I just earned the free drinks. Anyway, we are sailing again in April and I think we will take turns gambling and only use his Sail and Sign card to maximize our point earning. Hopefully we can get a good offer out of it. Now I know to go ask at the cage before we leave.

Your guess is as good as mine! LOL I'm just telling you what John posted. We were very interested in that post because I receive the Premier offers all the time and my in-laws never get them. They always cruise with us, but they play craps and video poker while I play slots.

As far as the perks that you get when you contact them, I have no idea how they come up with that. I'm by no means a high roller. Usually I earn between 3,000-4,000 points per cruise. Sometimes they give me $300 sometimes I get $50. We cruised over New Year's on a Premier cruise and I had about 4,000 points. I e-mailed them for our Breeze cruise next month. They sent me a reply that said congratulations you are eligible for $25. Woo-Hoo! Thanks alot.

I see my Premier offers first on Carnival.com in my VIFP offers. On the latest offer in December I saw it there and then 2 weeks later I got an e-mail offer for it. Then, about another week and a half later, the offer came in snail mail.

DH and I always use my card when playing slots. It makes our point total higher and our money last longer because only one of us play at a time. He does use his card when he plays blackjack. Since you get to go with him on his free cruise offer, I think you still did ok. :D

I get a post card kind of letter in the mail and they also show up on My Offers when I log in on Carnival.com.

Usually a discount and cash to pick up at the Casino cage.

May I ask what email you sent to? Would like to do the same to see if we have anything for the cruise we are taking in April.

We actually didn't end up taking the free cruise offer. We didn't book in time, had only 2 weeks to book and none of the available cruise dates worked for us. We are both in education so we can only cruise during high demand times (summer, spring break, christmas break) and those times are almost always blacked out. So we are paying full price for our upcoming cruise but maybe they can offer us a little casino cash. Would be better than nothing.

I asked when I booked my free one if it included any casino cash and they said no...lol I guess I should be happy with a free 8 days in the Caribbean!

The other variable in the free cruise offers on the last night is whether or not you already have another cruise booked. I believe when the answer is yes no offer and vice versa....just off the Triumph today, got the free inside offer but no dates work since we are on the Epic in March already.....and FYI, I had about 3500 points on a 4 day cruise. Mainly switched to NCL for better offers, but when Carnival sends me almost free offers I take them as well, as long as I have PTO at work. :)

Sure it was casino@carnival.com. Include both of your names, dates of birth, VIFP numbers, and booking number for your last cruise as well as the booking number for your next cruise.

I have heard that these bounce back cruises are pretty restrictive. I had to pay for our Premier cruise that was over New Year's and we booked another one over Spring Break so at least they do offer these when you could go.

Thank you, I sent an email which included names, VIFP numbers, booking numbers and DOBs. I mentioned the bounce back offer we received but were unable to take and that we did book a cruise at full price. I asked if there may be any casino perks available for our next cruise since we missed out on the free cruise and I thanked them profusely for being so amazing on our last cruise. Hopefully it works out! If not, didn't hurt to try. Even $25 casino cash would be something.

I already had my premier cruise in Feb booked when I got a free offer on the Glory. Sadly I couldn't do that one. Doh

I have only gotten the drinks on us card (about day 3 or 4, of a 7 to 8 day cruise), also once got a coupon for a photo, and photo album, and once got a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries, and last time a plate of different sweets.

While I am grateful for these things, I still think Carnival made off like bandits with my hard earned money:D Also, no free cruises for me:(

Interesting discussion. Last cruise I was betting $30-50 a roll on craps, my DW the same on Let it Ride all week. Saw others betting less get Drink cards. Didn't know I had to ask.

Will certainly do so next cruise. Aside from no free drinks on that cruise, I'm more than happy I was offered the upcoming cruise for tax & port charges only. So in the end, I'm way ahead of a few free drinks.:)

I remember reading reviews on here when they first started doing the drink cards. People talked about how they would hit 1500 and someone would magically appear to give them their cards. You know like they were hovered in the back watching the point totals to see if someone had hit the magic number. The first time I hit it, I waited and waited. I thought surely they would come soon. Finally, I got thirsty and flagged someone down.

I know its different on the tables because you aren't watching your point totals. My FIL bets as much as you or a little more on the craps table. About the second night he flags down the pit boss and says don't you think its time? He has done this for the last 4 cruises and the pit boss just immediately calls for someone to bring him a card and a drink.

Should any of us have to work as hard as we do for our comps? No. Just like you shouldn't have to call or e-mail them. They know that you are cruising. It should just be at the cage for you. If you know that you are due for something, speak up. They rarely volunteer to do much without you asking. You're right. I'd much rather have a free cruise than free drinks, but I'd take both if they offered!:D

I play about 80 a roll so when it is a cold table I get killed. But the last time on the Glory I did ok. I got free drinks from the pit boss the first night. Stayed Away a few days as I spent enough the first night. The last two nights I went back and I had DOU immediately. Nice crew on there.
