Booking HMC's Private Oasis for our Roll Call -- questions

Well, maybe just one question. :)

If I book it for our Roll Call, how do we identify which people have paid and have access? I'm assuming that wristbands of some sort are passed out by Carnival...does that happen upon check-in at embarkation, or on the island proper at the Excursions desk there?

I'm just looking into the logistics.

Okay, that was more like one very long-winded question. :D

Hmmmm....We've rented it twice and for the life of me I can't remember if they gave us wristbands or not! It was a big group of family and friends both times so we would've known if someone didn't belong there. If you are renting it for a roll call, it has to be paid in full at time of booking. So everyone would have to send you their money and you, then would know who paid and who didn't.

Thanks. I've been told that if I go to Shore Excursions as soon as I board, I'll get the info I'll need.

I went ahead and booked it, and have about 14 people from our roll call signed up. They are sending me the money via Paypal now. I just want to make sure there are no logistical problems once we board.

So I've emailed shoreexcursions@carnival with some questions about this...and the answers keep getting weirder and weirder. '

From the replies from Carnival.....

-- They give me one ticket for the Oasis, delivered to my room the night before.

-- We all go the island on the first tender, somehow, even though others in the group don't have tickets. My beneficent magic will protect them from all harm, and from being kicked off the first tender. Or something.

-- Additional persons above the initial 12 go to Shore Excursions and purchase their tickets. I guess we'll find out how many when 20 more people descend upon us at the Oasis. ...Or something.

-- I go to the kiosk on the island and we are escorted to the Oasis by staff, who will know who we are and therefore no wristbands, etc. are issued.

-- Anyone who doesn't show up with the group at the kiosk is apparently S.O.L.

This is turning into a logistical nightmare.

Bumping this thread, since my cruise is coming up fast. I'm still unsure as to the exact procedure for identifying our roll-call participants.

Also, does the Private Oasis/Grand Cabana rental include floaty-mats like the regular cabanas do? I'm assuming it does, but wanted to make sure.

I was in the Oasis in 2012, and have it booked again in 2016. We had floats (usually stored behind the hot tub), but there are also some "anchored" larger floats already in the water.

As far as identifying your Roll Call (and I think having the Oasis is a wonderful idea for your group!), I would buy some rubber wrist bands....pretty inexpensive and can be worn all day without interfering with your activities.

I know you will have a delicious time!

We're all looking forward to it....assuming Hurricane Joaquin leaves anything standing at HMC. :o

I might get some wristbands, too. That's a nifty idea.

I know this is an old post, but hopefully someone can answer this question- I know the maximum people that can pay for the Oasis is 24, but are others (over the 24) allowed to come to the Oasis area, like on the beach area in front of the Oasis?

I recently looked into this because we have a very large group going again in December. I was told via email from the shore excursion dept. that 24 was the max. The price is only for 12. Each additional up to 24 is $99 each, I believe.

24 will be pretty crowded. Are you expecting food and drink for those above the max prescribed?

There isn't beach in front of Oasis- it is a ways away. It is more or less a rocky shoreline in front of the Oasis.

No, those not included in the 24 would not get food/drink/water equipment. Just wondering if the others in our group not included in the 24 can still be near us.

Yep, unless the prices have changed that is what we had arranged for our CruiseCritic roll-call group.

They can't "officially" be part of your Oasis group. However, they can be in the water immediately to the right of the Oasis (near the slide and the stairs) without any problems. In fact, I think that's where some of the better snorkeling reportedly is. You and your guests are free to mingle with them in the water there as well.

As I recall, the beach is a good distance from the Oasis (it sticks out into the water from the shore) and there's a pay-to-use kids' area there too, but your "extra" people could establish their "camp" on the beach down from the Oasis past the kids' area.

They would not be allowed to walk down the walkway past the gate to the Oasis, and would not be allowed to climb the stairs up to the Oasis from the water.

My suggestion to anyone considering booking the Private Oasis for a group: GET THE MONEY IN ADVANCE via PayPal or whatever. That way there's no chance of you getting left holding the bag for no-shows. If the port visit is cancelled -- as ours was -- it's not too difficult to issue refunds to your people, at least via Paypal.
