Rare TPKeller Posted May 23, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2004 An early tropical disturbance. No call for intensification, but lots of rain, and maybe some rocky water . Rare TPKeller Posted May 23, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 23, 2004 Speaking of flash floods and mud slides... has anyone seen them close the hike up Dunns River Falls due to too much rain? That would be quite a site to see that river in a torrential downpour. Just curious... CelebrityMan Posted May 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2004 Yes, on a 12-day Caribbean cruise in 1995 Dunns River Falls hike had been closed earlier in the week due to too much rainfall. When we did it one could still see the reddish mud down at the beach end. One of the most picturesque spots in the Caribbean, though. I do love it. Need to visit there again, and return to the Botanical Gardens up the hill.

Rare TPKeller Posted May 24, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted May 24, 2004 Yep, the NHC is "the horse's mouth" so to speak, when it comes to hurricane information. The main site, http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ always has the latest information on any storm which may form. The information is updated every 6 hours, or more often as a storm nears landfall.
