Here are some more visuals from Spring and being in Virginia. Doing bikes, playing outside, etc.??!! It's all super fun for this time of the year after folks have been cooped up during the winter season.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Here are some more examples of Spring fun and excitement from yesterday, including being with our two grandsons in Virginia. Kids playing on bikes is greatly exciting. Nice time of the year to be visiting in this scenic and historic "Land of Jefferson"!!:

Receipt of a birthday lens led to the obligatory testing and an impromptu portrait of Matthew during tablet time. Not bad for dim window and tablet light at ISO 5000.

Very cool dog mush shots - that's something you don't see often in here!

Our birds are heavily into their breeding season, so many of them are really turning on their special colors and feather displays to attract mates. Some of you who don't know birds may not realize that birds can completely change colors on parts of their bodies and feathers when they go into mating season...some otherwise dull birds can get quite colorful. Here are some mating-season birds from Saturday:

Cattle egrets are generally dull white birds with pale yellow bills. But when it's mating time, they color up quite a bit - the bill takes on oranges, pinks, & reds, the eye even changes color from yellow to red - the feathers on the head and neck take on a yellow-brown wash, and the feet and legs go from greyish black to a vivid red:

Snowy egrets typically have yellow feet on black legs, and black bills - during mating season, the feet turn a bold reddish orange and a touch of color in the face along the bill gets the same shade:

Tricolor herons are already pretty colorful birds...their big change for mating season is their yellow and grey bill turns into a vivid blue bill:

Other than color changes...the other thing you see this time of year is furious nest building activity. Having a big comfy looking nest is a way for a male to attract a female, with his great ability to provide a home to raise the young...so male birds are constantly flying back and forth with branches and leaves to build their nests. Here, a male wood stork is coming straight at you, with nest materials in his mouth:
