Car rental near San Francisco cruise port

We'll be a group of 4 adults and their luggage, getting off Grand Princess on Dec 20, 2015. Our flight isn't until 6 pm. Is there a car rental location near the cruise port in San Francisco (either walking distance or a very short cab ride)? Our thought is to rent a car and have a leisurely lunch somewhere before heading to the airport. With a rental car, we'd have someplace to store our luggage while we have lunch and perhaps drive around a bit. We would then need to return the rental car to the appropriate office near SFO mid- to late-afternoon. Thanks.

Twice we have rented from Enterprise at 350 Beach St. It wasn't very far away but they do not pick you up at the pier. However, they will reimburse you for a taxi up to $8. I do not know how their rates compare for a one way drop at the airport.

Snowbird, we also rented from Enterprise at the Beach St. location (in September). Our ship docked at the new cruise ship terminal, Pier 27. The terminal has a nice drop off/pick up area in front. It was about a one mile walk to Enterprise. We had a one day rental (we overnighted in SF), and everything worked out great. I booked very early on their website, and got an intermediate SUV for a total of only $47. :cool:

Avis also has rental offices on Bay Street (Fishermans Wharf) as well as in the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero.
