We will be arriving in Bermuda on June 15, 2015 on Liberty of the Seas. It appears that the rid a Bermuda holiday called National Hero Day that occurs on June 15th? Will that impact bus transportation or shops being open in Hamilton or the dockyard. This is our first day in port so are wondering if we will have to alter our plans for that day. Will there be public transportation limitations, store closures? Any information or advice is helpful as we are only in port 2 days June 15th and 16th. The last time we were in Bermuda we used the ferry and public transport to tour the island. Thanks in advance.

On all major public holidays, buses and ferries operate on a limited holiday schedule, taxi fares are subject to a surcharge, and most businesses are closed. Generally businesses in the Dockyard are open as long as a ship is in port.

Thanks, this helps. Based on the bus schedule I saw online, it looks like our best bet Day 1 is to bus to Horseshoe Bay and then come back to the Dockyard around 3Pm or so. Maybe walk to Sea Glass Beach for a look or shop in Dockyard for a couple hrs. Then Day 2 we can do Hamilton, Gibbs Hill Lighthouse and then finish up in the dockyard and grab a bite at the Frog and Onion before boarding the ship.

Really appreciate the info it helped so much. Thanks again

National Heroes day is now National Heroes weekend beginning on Friday and ending on Monday. They are very proud of the schedule of events and that it is their first attempt at a "Carnivale" atmosphere. We are flying in on Sunday the 14th and am not sure we would have chosen that week given the magnitude of closings and limited transportation. You can read all about it on there website. Enjoy!! We have cruised to Bermuda 6 times. I love it. This will be our second time staying on the island.:D

Can anyone venture a guess as to whether it will be feasible to visit St George on National Heroes Day? I haven't been able to determine whether the orange route ferry will be operating, and on what schedule. Also, is the "Raft Up" an event that will generate large crowds in the area that will impact our ability to visit the beach and other sites nearby?
