notjaded Posted March 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2017 We will be arriving at Santiago/Valpariso after a long cruise from Buenos Aires. Would like to be coddled from disembarkation to a tour of Machu Picchu. Has anyone used a great resource to create a remarkable and stress-free excursion? Many thanks for any advice. If you google 'machu picchu tours' you will come up with a plethora of possibilities. You are likely aware that you must travel (fly) from Santiago>Lima>Cusco to begin a visit to MP. tcdcruiser Posted March 24, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) Just back from MP and a 33 day SA cruise. Here is what I suggest. Easy to fly LATAM from SCL to Lima and onto Cuzco without a tour. Once in Cuzco used KBTambo Tours for the sacred valley. http://kbperu.com/info/ Used these guys a few weeks ago and they were great. Collected us in Cuzco and toured the whole valley. They left us in Ollantaytambo. Took the train independently from there to the foot of MP (Aguas Calliente). Must take train as this is the only direct method. Once atop MP a large collection of guides are available for hire outside the park gates. MP tickets are limited so be sure to buy in advance. Same with the Peru rail tickets. Upon train return to Ollantaytambo have KBTambo take you to Cuzco or the airport for your flight to Lima you will need hotels in Cuzco, Ollantaytambo and Agua Calliente. TripAdvisor has lots of fine choices. I stayed atop MP at the Belond Sanctuary Hotel. Wow. What a great experience Due to distance and remote location MP imho is not exactly a stress free trip. It is however truly a city in the clouds and spectacular. Edited March 24, 2017 by tcdcruiser
