Skier52 Posted December 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) Has anyone had any hair straighteners confiscated when embarking an MSC ship.? Do you want to run the risk as they are specifically named as prohibited on the luggage labels in the e-tickets and it says they will not be returned?? The wording is on the luggage labels and I've Copied & Pasted part of them Quote:- Guests are advised that MSC Cruises operates the following on-board policy with regard to prohibited items, which include alcohol (beer, wine, spirits, champagne, etc.), firearms, irons, hair straighteners, weapons and sharp objects. Any such items found in your luggage when scanned during the boarding process will preclude embarkation. Unless a guest disposes of such items themselves at this point, they will be confiscated and not returned to the guest, without exception. vea52 Posted December 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2016 Hi, I had a couple of questions about our upcoming cruise December 23 so I went to the MSC web site, when the "live chat" box popped up I connected. Got my questions answered including my question about hair straightener. The MSC rep I spoke to said my "hair iron was ok but not a clothes iron". So I am planning on bringing mine. Hope this helps Veronica

lovelights Posted December 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 8, 2016 I went on Divina in October, and had my straightening wand in my luggage that arrived in my stateroom around 3:30pm, and had no problems at all. We also took 6 bottles of Aquafina water in each suitcase (had 2 suitcases), and had no problem with that either.
Costa Lotless Posted December 8, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted December 8, 2016 Hi, Thanks for taking the time to paste that info. I've had to make last minute re-arrangements because of the cancelled Costa cruise due to engine problems so not been able to absorb all the info yet. sidari Posted December 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2016 Taking personal items and not returning them may well be illegal! regardless of what it says on a luggage label. How to win friends and influence people the MSC way!
