Snorkeling at Maho and/or Orient Beach

I was just curious--I am booked with Bernard's Tours for our day in St. Martin. Is it worth it to bring my snorkeling gear for our time on the beach? I'm not sure how much ocean life there is to see near the shore.

The answer to your question is probably no, but you can email Bernard and ask whether there will be any opportunity for any decent snorkeling on your tour - see what response you get. I have never attempted snorkeling at Maho and do not know anyone who has.

We took Bernard's tour a few weeks ago. Great Tour!! Hope you get the Mailman as your guide. He makes some very potent rum punch.

We visited Orient beach. The water may be the clearest of any island we have been to. There are some fish swimming around but no coral reefs . No need to take your snorkel equipment.

At Orient, there is limited snorkeling available along the rocks that run off to the right from Pedros.

There are usually lots of fish, though most are what I would call boring.

The water is little more than chest deep.

Thank you all for your responses! I think I'll leave the gear on the ship and just enjoy the day.

If you're considering my spot at Orient, you wouldn't need fins, just have a mask.

Maybe even share one.
