ILoveOcean Posted November 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2014 We're cruising during Christmas week and will stop at Coco Cay on Christmas day 12/25/2014. Does anyone know if any Catholic Church around Coco Cay? Thx LV
ATC cruiser Posted November 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2014 The only residents of coco cay are the employees of RCI that work on the very small island. So no church Aft Cabins Rule
Rare Lionesss Posted November 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2014 Having sailed on 7 different vacations, on various ships....................only once did a Catholic priest post on the message boards that he was having a Sunday Mass in the Chapel.....he did this on his own on his vacation. We always look. Sea Ya
cb at sea Posted November 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2014 Coco Cay is the private island....there is little but "beach stuff" there. The ship may offer some sort of service, but it won't be on Coco Cay. Yes...it is up to a passenger who volunteers to do a service....the ship doesn't provide clergy. Barefoot_Pirate Posted November 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2014 (edited) Many cruise lines used to make an effort to have a priest on board for Mass for guests and employees. That is getting harder to find with perhaps exceptions being Costa, HAL and Crystal otherwise it is seasonal for a few more such as NCL, RCCL and P&O (Easter, Christmas and perhaps Lent) and with RCCL repositioning. Since the answer is "it depends" and changes without notice, you should contact the line (plus it demonstrates a customer desire). cb at sea Posted March 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 1, 2017 No churches...it's a beach thing...that's all. It's just like being on the ship, but on land. This is not a true "Port of call"...it's the cruise line's private beach destination. EVERYTHING is brought from the ship. You will find plenty or secluded places where you could have devotions on your own.
