St Croix snorkeling

Has anyone snorkeled around Buck Island in St Croix? My wife and I want to try it but have heard varying reports.

Hesitate to post because it's been quite a few years since we did our snorkeling there BUT it was really great when we did it. :)

Just back from St Croix yesterday, our son and family live there. The best snorkeling will be at Buck Island, we did this last week. On a scale of 1 - 10 I would say maybe a 6-7. Much dead coral but good visibility and some fish. Another option is the cruise ship pier (can only do this when no cruise ship in port). Hope this helps, Lou

Lived on St Croix for 3 years in the 80's the best bar none snorkeling is Issacs Bay but it is a effort to get to drive way out on the east end on a dirt road then hike a mile back over a mountain trail. Not sure I could hack it today.

We snorkeled Buck Island with Big Beard's and thought it was great, not the best snorkeling ever but a fun day and definately saw lots of fish and the time on Buck Island was fantastic - gorgeous beach.
