Cruising in January from Galveston

I just got back from a 4-day cruise to Cozumel. The weather sucked. I know as far as Texas is concerned you simply never know. It was freezing and raining when we left and today the sun is shining and it's 65 degrees. It was raining but warmed up in Cozumel.

My bigger concern is the movement of the ship. I have been on a 5 night and a 7 night, and I have never had the ship move so much before.

Is that normal this time of year or was it simply because of a storm system.

I ask because I have a group cruise booked for next Jan too.

we got back yesterday from the NAV Falmouth/Grand Cayman/Cozumel run. the last sea day after Cozumel was very choppy/windy and all poolside activities were moved inside.

every other day it was glass. quite comfy temp wise across the board.

Seas can be rough, or calm any time of the year. When they are rough, typically the cause is weather related. In your case, I am going to bet it was rough for ships sailing out of Florida as well, particularly those sailing to the Western Caribbean.
