Sailing next month on the Gem. Can I buy a bottle of whisky to keep in my room and can I buy packs of cigarettes for use on the ship but not in my room, of course.

If you know the cost it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Call 1-800-327-7030 to order by the bottle and for setups.

Buy cigarettes by the pack at the bar in the Casino.

You need to order a bar setup, you can do this through your personal cruise consultant and I would do it know. You will need to put it on CC when you book it.

Cigs can be purchased on board once the ship gets into international waters and you can take them directly back to your room.

Apparently you may not open any liquor bottles which you buy on the ship during the cruise:

If you purchase any alcohol at one of our ports-of-call or in our onboard shops, we will safely store your purchase(s) and either on the final night of the cruise or the morning of debarkation it will be available for pick up in a designated area.

But cigarettes are sold, by the Carton only, no packs. Each Carton sells for approximately $35 (there is a price variance by brand) and they are given to the passenger at the time of purchase, so you may open them while still on the ship.

Hope that this helped-

Enjoy your trip!

That part quoted in BOLD is only for purchases made in the shop. If you order a bar set up prior to cruising you get the alcohol in your room to drink as you wish.

And you can buy the bar setup on board the ship. Same cost as buying in advance. If you pre purchase, it may be in your room when you arrive, but usually you have to tell your steward what you want for the set up. Set up includes three mixers and garnishes.

When did they start allowing the purchase of a bar set after boarding? I was not aware that we could do that. We always purchased our bar setup several weeks prior to sailing, and yes, sometimes I had to remind the steward that I was supposed to receive the soda and/or garnish.

I think last year. Some bar menus even have bottle prices printed on them.

That is only from the duty free shop. Liquor by the bottle, with setups, are available for purchase and consumption onboard... pricey, but possible.

Not so. Cartons, again, in the duty free shop are bonded until the end... but single packs are avail at the Casino bar.

What do you mean "bonded until the end"? You can take cartons with you from the Duty Free Store when purchased unless things have changed in the last year or so since I last bought some for a friend....
