Default Can you bring water/soda on RCCL?

In the past we have been able to check water & soda. We have been told by RCCL that they no longer will let you do this. Has anyone had any luck with being able to bring on water or soda? I specific about my soda and they do not offer it on board and I also drink a lot of water. We sail on 4/4 on the Freedom.

yes, you can.....it's ALCOHOL they don't want you to bring...the other stuff..they really don't care.
Although, there's really no need to bring water...the ship has plenty and it's perfectly FINE to drink.
Your food, ice, coffee, tea, lemonade, juice, etc...is ALL made with ship's water.

Did you call them and ask or something?

There is a post going on this and so far it seems that no one has been prevented from brining non-alcoholic beverages on board. I would bring it along.

I'm keeping an eye out on updates about bring bottled water onboard and am curious how others pack it? We are going on the Oasis in May, flying in the night before and plan on picking up a 36 pack of water at Sams or such. Do we pack it in a bag of luggage, or just put a luggage tag on it? (We chacke dthe price of bottle water onbaord and it was $72 for 24 bottles!!! Our 36 pack is $4) Any info is appreciated! Thanks

Have you ever cruised before? The water on board really is just fine and actually tastes a lot better than my local water. Most bottled water is just tap water anyway. If you have never had onboard water, I would suggest giving it a chance. It's not like Mexico where you have to have bottled water.

If you want to bring water on board, I think people slap tags on it.

ETA: Sorry, I see that you have cruised before...I'm really curious as to why you want to bring so much of your own water. Not being a jerk--just curious.

I am packing water and soda in a suitcase.
That way when I bring back the Liquors,
I have somewhere to put it.
Also packing some bubble wrap !

I purchased a case of water bottles at Walmart in Orlando.
Brought it to embarkation at Port Canaveral, with one of our luggage stickers across the top of the package.
Gave it to the porter along with our luggage.
It was delivered outside our stateroom a few hours later.

During spring break they are more strict on bringing on water and sodas , that has been my experience in the past , on most cruise lines.

We didn't have any issues in SJU, however, I wouldn't suggest just slapping a tag on your water. Workers took that as an invite to help themselves to it. I would put it into a suitcase. I never had that problem at Port Canaveral, but lesson learned.

I wonder if they take a "Test Bottle" when you bring a bottled item. Last summer we tagged three cases and put them though the luggage system. All three were delivered with our luggage, but while the boxes of 12pack cans were both intact, the case of plastic bottles of diet coke had one bottle missing.

I slapped a luggage on a case of water last week on the Independence and had no problems. We sailed out of Ft Lauderdale. I figured $4 for a case of 500ml bottles vs $4 for a single 1L bottle on the boat. Even if it doesn't make it, it is worth the risk if you ask me.

The reason to take bottled water aboard is to use when you leave the ship in the various ports. We had no problem whatsoever checking a 36 case container on the MOS. All arrived safely in our suite & ready to use at a moments notice.

Gotcha. We always bring a refillable bottle, or just buy something in port, but I can see that.

Default Water in 2011?

Has anyone had experience bringing water on board RCCL (Oasis) this year? I see that there has been discussion about last year...but not recently

My wife did the same thing on our recent Majesty cruise. Filled her bottle before leaving the ship each day. It worked great until we got to Key West, when she left the bottle sitting by the water station in the Windjammer. We were completely surprised to find it right where she left it when we got back, 4 hours later.
