Flights landing at 5 am

We are looking at the July 29, 2011 itinerary and the ATN flight timings are very different from what they have been for the last 6 years.

The evening flights from LA land in Papeete at either 9.40 at night or 5 am ( overnight flight). The return flight is in the morning at 10 am.

My questions are: Does PG cruises put you in a hotel for the day before boarding? Can you board for lunch ( 12 instead of 3)? Do they put you on the 10 am flight to LA?

I just came across your post and was so confused because I already booked my flight to arrive on the 28th of June spend a night in LA and booked my ticket to depart LAX at 1:00PM to arrive at 6:20PM in Papette. This was the time schedule given to me by Paul Gauguin rep. I booked our tickets with miles so I am pretty upset about this change. On the way back home it does not matter as those flights are more or less the same. In order to make the sailing 29 June 2011 (you stated 29th July) I do not know if you are on the same sailing as I (Society Islands and Tuamotos (10 night cruise) you would have to depart on the 28th of June to Papette otherwise you will never make the sailing time of 10PM 29th June.

Please let me know if anyone hears differently, I do not want to start changing things as I had already checked the schedule on ATN before booking my ticket to LAX.

Buburin,

No need to get confused.... I am probably wrong. My daughter checked the ATN website and found these timings. Maybe the website is incomplete or ee could just be missing something.... If you have booked for the 29th of June that is perfect.

We will be on the same cruise.

I checked their website and yes indeed they changed their times. Our trip is so far off, that we should not worry at this point. We shall see what happens. I am sure the PG people will advise what is going on. I will call them and find out.

Great to know that you too will be on my first PG Cruise Ever!!! So excited about it!!

Best, Nancy:rolleyes:

I had the exact flights in May!Leaving LA late in the evening and arriving Papeete 5am worked for me!You sleep there and when you awake they will escort you to the Sheraton where you'll enjoy a full buffet breakfast and then relax until taking ground transportation to the ship arrriving 3:00pm.On the return, you'll stay at Radisson till 7:00pm or so and then ground transportation to the airport. That is no fun!2-3 hours during my visit.Catch your flight at 10:00p-11:00p and bak in LA at 10:00a-11:00a!

I returned on a Saturday/Sunday (like everyone else) and it was forever at the airport in Papeete. However, should you decide to stay over until a Monday or Tuesday,I understand this is not the case!:)

Hi Tom:

Thanks for your feedback. Actually we should be fine as we will arrive in LA on 28 June and we had booked an overnight hotel to stay and leave on that 1:00PM flight on the 29th. Our flight from NY arrives in LA at 8:40 so we should have more than eneough time to make the last flight to Papette. Does the PG pick you up and put you in a day room until boarding the PG?

Best, Nancy

This is what I explained in my earlier reply. You should get transfer/day room included with your PG package upon your arrival as well as your departure.

Your travel into and out of LA will not be included nor a day room.I arrived LA at noon and got a day room at the Airport Hilton till 8:00pm for $75 and the same on return arriving 11:30a with day room till 8:00pm with a red eye arriving home the next day at 8:30am.Have a fun trip!

Tom, I beg to differ....

When we booked from Toronto to Papeete with the cruiseline ( Regent) they put us at the LA Hilton overnight - we did this about three times. Other two times we booked air fare to PPT ex LAX.

Nancy, would suggest that you talk to ATN as they categorically told me that they do not have a 1.00 pm flight on the 29th and you have to make sure you take the 4.00pm flight to make the ship - the later flight will take you in on the 30th morning which will be too late.

I have always had wonderful service from ATN but others have had a different experience.

We did the 1pm flight about 1 month ago. There was a later flight and the ship did not depart until those people got to the ship. Check with PG to see if they "approve" the later flight. If they do, they will wait for you.

If you have the time FP is amazing and our stay pre cruise at the Hilton on Moorea was fantastic.

Emdee, Radisson/Regent did this for us several times (forced overnight in LA), but the last time, in 2008, they flew us straight thru from Toronto and put us on the later ATN flight (4 p.m.) At the time I wondered if the ATN schedule had been altered to allow the PG to fly eastcoasters straight to FP without the hotel expense.

Does PGCruises have any history of paying for forced overnights if required?

Had our TA call PG about the flights. PG says that if 5am flights are the order of the day, they will accomodate passengers with some sort of day room.

I too have seen some passengers arrive on the later (4:00-9:40pm) flight, but it does cut it quite close. Maybe a midnight sailing might be in order?

I too had communciation with PG and was told that they would accommodate all PG passengers if they had to book the 4:40PM flight out of LAX to Papeete - they said the ship would wait for all passengers and would sail at 1:00AM.

We are leaving to LAX the day before June 28th and arrive LAX at 7:40PM so would not be able to get on the 4:40PM flight as it would have already departed but if worse came to worse, we would have to forfeit our Hilton Express reservation for an overnight stay on the 28th of June and take the last flight out of LAX at 11:45PM to arrive in Papeete at 5:00AM 29 June.

I will wait it out and see what happens as we have booked everything in advance - so one way or another we will be there. Would not miss it! You never know, perhaps ATN will yet again change their flights to accommodate everyone. (And we thought we were playing it safe by leaving one day earlier!! LOL!)

Have a great weekend everyone!!!:o

You can just join us for a PRE-flyaway party in So Cal. Some of our former shipmates are flying to Fiji the same week as we are sailing (again) on the PG. We hope to converge somewhere in LA or Orange County.

OH, and PS: We will DEFINATELY have a sailaway party on the PG...Probably on 6/30 as 6/29 will be TOO late!
