This is for anyone looking to book the sandbar island excursion in Haiti. I wanted to make a thread to help those out in deciding to this or not. I wish there was something like this before I left, I was on the fence on booking this at first. I'm so glad I ended up booking this excursion, not only did we have a blast but it was beautiful.

This is the boat we board to head out to the island. They serve rum punch and beer for really cheap prices. Beers are 4 for $10 and rum punch is $3.

There were sandbars the whole way out to the island.

Getting ready to throw the anchor down and get on the island, once anchor is down you have to get in waste deep water to get to the island.

The photo ops here are great, this water was beautiful

People relaxing in the water, they provide mats free of charge.

Right before we were leaving the tour guy pulled up a sea creature, we got to hold it; it feels so cool on your hand just don't squeeze it or that would hurt.

All in all this is a fantastic excursion, I highly recommend it. We wanted to find something to fill up our morning before our big zip lining tour so we picked this. It takes about 20 minutes each way from the island and you spend about 1.5 hours on the island. If you're on the fence about this I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for posting - nice job.

My question is this - how much of a loud party atmosphere is it? I enjoy several rum punches as much as the next person, but my main wish would be to float in that beautiful water and relax (while sipping rum punch, of course).

A spring break, or frat party atmosphere with loud music and drunks acting foolish would ruin it for me. Can you comment?

I do notice that they divide it into AM (family) and PM (adults) trips, but I would not be happy sharing my serenity with screaming kids either. :D

We did the morning one and there were no kids on it and no one was obnoxiously drunk. They played some music on the way back to Labadee and a few people were dancing that's it.

Maria, please report back when you get home, if you think of it.

I am deciding between this one and Malfini Beach getaway (if it's still available) for my December trip.

Thanks.

We have booked the Adult Island Sandbar tour for October and I was wondering if the water is really deep that you have to get into when getting off the boat?

I realise that because its a sandbar that the boat has to drop anchor out from the beach. What do you do with your belongings when you get off? Try to hold them above your head while you wade? I was thinking that it would be more like knee deep - may have to rethink what I wear (don't really want to travel from the ship to the sandbar in my swimsuit)

Grateful for any tips.

Thanks

Helen
