Rare missync Posted January 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2016 I planning on a Southern Caribbean cruise in early July with stops in Aruba, Curacao, and Grand Turk. I've been on several cruises before but never been to any of these places. What are the must do things at each place? I'm interested in excursions too but also just best beaches or places to see on your own. FYI...Part of the group is older and can walk but can't do any long distances or hiking or anything. AND - I'm looking for something possibly adventurous to do with my 17 yr old nephew Thanks!!
apdchief Posted January 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2016 We have been to GT twice and will be back there next year. First time we did horseback riding and pool time at margaritaville. Second time we walk up the beach to Jack's Shack and spent time on the beach. Enjoyed both trips, but really like the area up by Jack's Shack. Time is too short there all trips left or will leave at 2pm.
mom2kids00 Posted January 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) Not much to do in Grand Turk except M'ville and the pool. Excursions are ok. Did a segway, and while fun, not much to see. This is our family's least favorite port. If you take a right at the end of the pier and walk that beach, it's pretty quiet and the farther down you go, there are lots of conch shells. Didn't book an excursion through ship, but there were lots of buses in port of Aruba that would take you on an island tour. It was safe and we got to see the entire island and hear some history. Curacao we just walked into town. I would seek out private excursions in Aruba and Curacao and spend your money on something fun in those places. Use Grand Turk as a place to just chill out. bumbles Posted January 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) We did a stand up paddleboarding excursion (booked thru Carnival) that also included snorkeling from the paddleboard. We had a great time and we're in our late 40's early 50's - might be something fun for your nephew. Edited January 15, 2016 by bumbles
OCruisers Posted January 15, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2016 Grand Turk: There's a beach right as you exit the cruise pier and a huge pool at Margaritaville within the port complex so you really don't have to go anyplace else unless you wish to do so. :)
wantocruisemore Posted January 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2016 For adventure try snorkling or some other water sport. Just the beach may b boring for a 17 yoa nephew.
sportscruiser Posted January 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2016 For something adventurous to do with your 17 yo nephew in Grand Turk you could try the ATV tour. I think there are 2 options available. I did the one that went to the lighthouse which had a great view but that was the only time we stopped. The other landmarks it takes you by we just drove on past. I think the other tour stops at more places. My 20 DS loved driving around though! It wasn't too tough to drive, your nephew could handle it.
