Krazy Kruizers Posted November 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2006 This was something new that we had not had on other cruises. It replaced the afternoon tea one day. "Viennese Coffee Court - 'as venerable tradition' we will recreate another gracious social event. The Viennese always considered the Cafe' to be a natural extension of their homes and offices. They spent many hours in these grand scale locations where the cafe'- concept was born, embodied by the Sorgento Strings this afternoon. White coffee ('Kapuziner', a dollop of whipped heavy cream placed on top of black coffee, sprinkled with powdered chocolate), was in fact first introduced by the Viennese and will accompany an elaborate traditional Viennese pastry display." Krazy Kruizers Posted November 19, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted November 19, 2006 On a table outside the upper level of the dining room were stacks of small plates. You formed 2 lines as you picked up a plate and entered the dining room. On tables just inside the dining room were lots of various kinds of rolls, coffee cakes and a few other regular cakes. The line moved very slowly!! You were served coffee but a couple of people asked for tea. You could also buy a special coffee for $4.25 - no refills: Explorer's Coffee - Kahlua & Grand Marnier Prince Charles Coffee - with Drambuie Almond Dream Coffee - Bailey's Irish Cream & Amaretto Captain's Coffee - Grand Marnier Irish Coffee - Irish whiskey
jhannah Posted November 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2006 That's neat. Sounds like something different to spice things up a bit. I'd sure give it a try.
babyher Posted November 19, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2006 Sounds very nice :) Sounds a little bit like the Venetian Hours they have at many weddings. Only on a little smaller scale. Still would be something I would like to try.
bepsf Posted November 19, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2006 Sounds like a nice idea - but might be nicer if the waiters served from trays or carts rather than having the guests wait in line for a bun...
