  1. Here is a photo of the Oceanview and Pothole from the Verizon last October. Just to show the differences in light.
  2. We had adjoining rooms on the Horizon last October, one porthole and one Oceanview. We have had several Oceanview on other Carnival ships. Horizon Specific: noise was not an issue, there was not as much light as I remembered on the other ships but they served their purpose. I new day from night and I could look out and see the water. This room had the portholes in a “tube” or back from the hull. Think looking through a straw or roll of paper towels. I don’t remember this on the other ships. Other ships, we could hear the anchor drop and loud bangs as the water hit the hill when the ship was at full speed. I believe that the porthole was more flush with the hull and let more light in. Overall I like the porthole. I would book again, I really like them if I can get them with an adjoining an Oceanview when we need a room for the kids.
  3. It truly depends on the port and agent working that day. On our last trip via Port Canaveral my 17 year old daughter walked on board with 3 plastic bottles of purified water (one open) and 3 plastic bottles of Arizona Tea (one opened) in her backpack. I had no idea, when we got to the room she started pulling them out. I asked how she got them through and she said, I walked. She said the agent asked about them and she said “I don’t like Spring Water, you can ask my Dad up there and pointed to me.” The agent said me neither and sent her through. It’s truly luck of the draw.
  4. You can book a mini Dreams session. One outfit in the Dreams studio, only takes about 30 minutes. The Dreams packages are more expensive than the regular ship pictures. However as others have said if you say No thank you enough times you can agree on a number and package. Yes, they will provide you the digital images. My wife is a professional photographer, so I hear this discussion on a regular basis. Yes, the Dreams packages are more expensive, but the quality is that much better. The photos are retouched by hand and do not just have a soft filter on them. The cost is similar to what a professional would charge if you were on land. The benefits of the Dream Studio is that everyone will be together. I recommend getting a mini session done, the investment is only 1 hour. 30 minutes for the photo shoot and 30 minutes later to review the photos. No out of pocket expense or commitment to buy. If you don’t find something you like or the price does not work, there are plenty of other options to get a group shot.

    Grand Turk

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good day. I am so excited for them that Jack’s is a staple of Grand Turk. I just remember the days when there were 10-15 people there. Our first trip our kids were playing with Jacks grandkid, our kids were 5 or 6 and are now graduating high school.

    Grand Turk

All great suggestions. However, Jacks is no longer Jacks for us old folks. Topher has now passed and Jack sold to his partner and returned to Canada to watch his grandchild graduate. I visited with new owner on the last trip and we talked about the old days. The improvements are all great, but it is far from the “Shack” it once was. You can’t go wrong on a visit there and we will make it a point to stop in and say hello on each trip to GT. GT is one of my favorite ports.
  9. Jimbo is correct. I have used both water out of the bathroom and regular bottled water for years with no issues, the choice is yours. Just be reassured, there are options
  10. Dad shorts (cargo shorts) are fine. Carnival asks that you wear long pants on the formal/elegant night but some people don’t. I would say as long as you are not wearing pajamas you should be fine. Enjoy your cruise.
  11. Big fan of the Vegitarian Lasagna, and I’m not vegetarian
  12. Fantastic view id request that table the rest of the cruise
