Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Is it available at other ports in Alaska or only in Sitka? How difficult/easy to find one? LAX
  2. Do you know if it's possible to call the Fortress once in port to see if it's available to DIY visitors that day? LAX
  3. Any independent operator you would recommend? Is mid to late June too early? My first choice is whale watching at ISP. If that's not available because of our timing in port, then I would love to see some bears in action! LAX

    Juneau excursion

Thanks. It's probably too early to start emailing them to inquire about availability for 2025. I figure they are likely gearing up for the upcoming cruise season at this point. Have you heard of Northstar? That's another company I was able to find through searches. Not sure which one is the best (Temsco vs. Coastal vs. Northstar) if they are all available. LAX

    Juneau excursion

Please share if you end up with other recommendations. I am planning for next year and want to know what options are available since we won't be in Juneau until the afternoon. LAX
  6. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who introduced me to Club Orange. I admittedly was a bit skeptical because it sounded too good to be true. But, I was indeed able to book a verandah stateroom that I had originally planned on for a bit less while having CO included! I am sure there are still tons to learn about sailing on HAL (this will be our first). Thanks again! LAX
  7. I am tempted to get CO when I am ready to book and want to double check that the fees for CO are refundable prior to final payment is due on a refundable fare. LAX

    OBC

So, I was reading a different thread and someone mentioned that the community appreciation offers require submitting request within 24 hrs of booking. It sounds like most people reported requesting them weeks, if not months later. Is there such strict timeline? Also, do you need to be verified prior to booking? I have read AARP does, but what about others? LAX
  9. Thanks. While the offer for booking a future cruise is enticing, the offer for placing a deposit is underwhelming. $25USD? I guess it's better than nothing if you only need to put down $100 for that. LAX
  10. If these classes are still around, would availability be based on region and/or season? LAX
  11. No discount or additional OBC for booking a future cruise onboard? LAX
  12. How was your experience? If there are 3 guests in the stateroom, is there a way to specify a particularly guest as being the 3rd one (lower fare) so that the cost is lower? LAX
  13. I am okay with that as long as the cost is priced accordingly. I can put the cost of more expensive fare on the other 2 guests' travel insurance for reimbursement. LAX
  14. Oh! You brought up an important point about single supplement. What about in the case of 3 guests? Would we get refund on 1/3 of total cost for the stateroom? Or just the fare on the 3rd guest (lower fare) even though she will be one of the 2 guests with higher fare? I am not sure how this will actually work as the other two guests will have travel insurance through a 3rd party and if my elderly mother can't go, there is a good chance all of us won't either. LAX
  15. That will work. I guess HAL doesn't have those large round tables that sit 10 or 12 (can't remember). LAX
