Since its your first cruise I would pick shorter. My wife and I went on a longer cruise the first time and hated all the sea days. Started again a few years later with 5 day cruises and now we love the longer ones. My own opinion, you need time to acclimate to a cruise ship, but once you do its wonderful! Depends on the port. Some will let all of you go together and some adhere to the boarding group numbers. A01 and A02 should only be minutes apart so not a big inconvenience.
