  1. I do a lot of cruises South Africa to UK, perhaps I'm unlucky but never found them much cheaper per night than normal. Going back to general discussion. P&O prices from what is said and cursory examination are much more expensive on older Adult only ships. Almost two different companies. To my mind once to start paying smaller (P&O) ship prices, might as well pay that extra for next level up. Mega ships are the bargains. But they are marmite ships
  2. My question was specfic to Epicurean where we will be eating most nights. So I will have a chat with Maitre D. I will not walk round the ship from Epicurean to an aft suite with a bottle in my hand or take a bottle with us to be theatre. No longer a student. There isn't that much red by the glass I fancy as a treat , was looking forward to the Barolo, or Gevrey Chambertin.
  3. It's about time someone stood up for P&O. P&O is not a charity. Cabin Prices have come down in real terms. The Business model, has changed, more profits coming from on-board spend. P&O drinks prices are reasonable. They can’t be expected to stock every brand, but as long as they have an entry brand , a medium brand and a top range whats to complain. In the old days when they were happy for people to drink their own in cabin, they made a handsome profit on cabin, on board spending was a bonus. I'm sure of you wrote to the right person in P&O and said I'm happy to pay another £30pp per night if you let me bring own drink for in cabin consumption they'd be very happy. But those of us who drink in bars and restaurants would not be so happy
  4. The logic doesn't compute, you are willing to spend £1000s more on Amazara/ silversea/Oceania, so you can save at most a £100 or so bringing own drinks
  5. I know Arvia doesn't have a proper library, but let's not get into that discussion. However I remember someone saying there was a book swap shelf somewhere but can't remember where. Given size of Arvia don't want to spend whole cruise looking for it. Can someone tell me where it is , do many people use it. Thanks.
  6. I always go against the main flow of strollers when jogging/power walking, otherwise you are constantly saying excuse me, and waiting for people to hear you or bother to react. Or worse you think you can easily pass on one side or other and they suddenly veer across your path
  7. In the buffet it really matters that others passengers wash their hands. Hence I avoid it like plague. In waiter served venues it far more important that staff wash their hands. I trust training of staff. Apart from that the covid lesson of keep hands away from face and wash before eating serves me well.
  8. P&O prices have come down, yet people complain foods not as good as it used to be .......... You can eat everyday in Epicurean and not spend anything like Saga or Fred money. Indeed in real terms you can eat every night in Epicurean and spend less than you used to to eat every night in MDR. As an experiment have booked Arvia Mediterranean cruise next month, a rear corner suite, have booked Epicurean, Sindhu, Limelight and Sushi (can't spell mizuh...) every night for £750. Total cost still less than 2 weeks in an ordinary cabin on Saga. Waiting to see how it works out.
  9. Looks like they are getting anyone with high priority on very early. Hope it goes smoothly.
  10. I'm not sure there will be much if a loss, may not look as traditional but QA also has many advantages over the older ships. Better bathrooms. More dining choices .
  11. I don't think so . On P&O the two mega ships, have significantly less crew per passenger than older smaller ships. Which is what gives them scope to reduce prices. QA has a similar staff to passenger ratio as other Queens, so expect same service and same cost . The only thing that can make it cheaper is lower running fuel costs of a newer ship.
  12. The answer is simple, P&O continue to allow you to bring drinks on board but charge say £10 or £15 corkage on any bottle you bring in. You pay corkage online in advance and show receipt.
  13. Just watched a few videos of QG bathroom. Some may say I'm picky but shower does look a bit small. Looks very hard to stand back as you turn it on and stay dry until it warms up. Like a walkin shower with controls not under the shower head. Picky yes but this is QG.
  14. The solution to facing wall in QG , is to make it a mirrored wall , will also make room seem wider.
