  1. Credit where credit’s due, on the face of it it looks like they have listened, or been forced to listen, to the many of us who have been very critical of the MDR offerings. Now waiting to see the reality of the changes and if all is positive we shall keep our 3 sailings next year, so fingers crossed.
  2. Checked the price again today and daily upgrade cost down to £6.96 so cancelled the £9.87 and rebooked at the lower price. How low can we go?
  3. We’ll this is good news from Celebrity and whatever the reason they are to be applauded for bringing the upgrade to an affordable price. we have just upgraded 2 of 3 B2 B2 B cruises as the upgrade is £9.87/day. This was double that price only a few days ago. For some reason our middle sailing is still >£14/day so we’ve left that at Classic. A big thanks to the OP for highlighting the price drop. Now if food improves we’ll be on these cruises.
  4. Watching the video it appears that she is laughing at customers and dismissing all criticism as if it doesn’t exist. Well if significant improvements aren’t made she will soon discover where her dismissive attitude leads.
  5. Oh the spin and porky pies by Celebrity are coming home to roost. They must think we are buttoned up the back to believe it all when we’ve experienced the significant downturn. Here’s hoping that those at the top listen to customers rather than middle managers who appear not to be feeding criticism upwards. I’ve 3 cruises booked for next year, booked before the crashing of food standards, and am so hoping that reports back from customers show a reversal of what has been done or we will be joining those cancelling.
  6. The Elite breakfast is one of the lovely things about a Celebrity cruise. As mentioned above it is a nice quiet place with good food and excellent service. For those worried about healthy options, they are available but remember you’re on a cruise and in the famous words of Oscar Wilde: “everything in moderation, including moderation”.
  7. Methinks someone high up in Celebrity is trying to kill off their reputation and screw the company. There is no way that the changes made can do anything but be ruinous and drive customers to other cruise lines or to land based holidays. please someone at Celebrity listen to the constant criticism and act on it before it’s too late.
  8. Well done Hankandteri for putting numbers to what we found on our August cruise. Always loved Celebrity until then and we were shocked at the downturn in quality caused by management decisions and not staff. Like others above we aren’t overly concerned about scores for other lines other than as comparators to the downward spiral of Celebrity. Celebrity HQ must read these boards and surely can’t keep blocking their ears whilst shouting lalalala’s to all of their concerned cruisers. let’s hope common sense prevails and we see the review scores make a sudden bolt upwards.
  9. Savvy is knowledgeable or street smart. A full glass of wine taken to dinner saves about $30 so not to be sniffed at😉. So one glass of wine hardly gets you through the dining room doors? That’s why you’ve got 2 hands, one glass for each!
  10. We took 2 bottles each last month after the change to one each, no problem at check in. To avoid corkage if you’re taking wine to dinner just fill up your wine glass in the cabin and take it through, they hold nearly 1/2 a bottle each! Also you can then order wine 5-7pm and take that to dinner when your bottles have run dry. Being savvy when using the Elite 2 hours of free drinks, other than embarkation day, you can leave the ship with a nil drinks account😉.
  11. The waiters, maitre d, etc were embarrassed about what they had to serve but were so professional and did their best. The decision and policy makers are to blame for the food debacle but of course they remain at distance and don’t respond to complaints.
  12. Also you can take 2 bottles of wine on when you embark. We took 2 on each last month and we’re waved through.
  13. Wait until you’re onboard then just buy the one package, it’s commonly done.
  14. It’s funny how the critics of the food have travelled in the past 6 weeks, Celebrity cheerleaders in the main haven’t cruised since the quality slump. Looking at menus doesn’t tell the whole story, wait until you cruise and experience the “new” MDR then comment. We had 14 wonderful Celebrity cruises with a great MDR, in August we had a big shock with the new mashed potato menus. Not just the tatties, the meals in general are a world apart from previous cruises and not in a good way. I hope and pray that the high heid yins at Celebrity see the folly of their ways and reverse their damaging changes.
  15. That’s good to know then, clearly there has been a u turn as Silhouette in August was nothing like your cruise in the MDR.
  16. The food is nothing like those photos in the MDR at the moment, unless of course there had been a swift u turn.
  17. Mashed potatoes with most mains however you can ask for chips/French Fries although these are pretty meh!
  18. OP findings mirror ours from August on the Silhouette. Embarrassing is the very same word I used in an earlier post and it wasn’t used lightly as we’ve always loved Celebity. Why oh why are those at the top making excellent chefs and waiters make and serve such bland unimaginative food? It does look like people who haven’t cruised in the last couple of month are finding it hard to believe the MDR negative reports, I would have too had I not experienced it.
  19. Celebrity don’t seem to care too much about customers, evidenced by the way they are changing the product in a negative way after we have booked. Now this can work both ways if those who are considering cancelling wait until the last moment or just allow their final payment date to pass then Celebrity will struggle to fill their ships. This would give them a wake up call that they can’t treat their customers with such disdain and hopefully lead to a return to what only a year ago was a premium product. Or of course they could allay all concerns by cancelling all of the ridiculous cost saving initiatives recently implemented. We have never based our Celebrity cruises on price alone, our priority has always been quality, you just can’t remove the quality and expect everyone to return, loyalty is hard earned but easily lost.
  20. Mine has always been Zacapa Old Fashioned in the WCB. We were on Silly last month but Zacapa is no more, it’s now 1818 I believe, never had it this time as I wanted Zacapa, so no sale.
  21. Many on CC still don’t believe that there is a real reduction in quality and it will take their next cruise to realise the changes, also the biggest reduction being in the MDR means suite passengers may not be too affected. When they have cruised again I think Celebrity will realise the decrease in future bookings and by then the premium reputation will be a thing of the past. We have 3 bookings for next year on Ascent and Beyond, the prices are now well above what we paid so we may take these cruises but we are now looking at NCL and the 6 star lines for the future. Unless there is a swift u turn by Celebrity next year’s cruises with them will be our last.
  22. I’ve read a few comments on this and other threads criticising the rise in negativity of posts re Celebrity. In the spirit of being a Celebrity cheer boy, this thread apart, I do tend to agree. I feel it important for readers to be informed of Celebrity changes both positive and negative but am an optimist and am hopeful that Celebrity will read about concerns of cruisers and make the right decision on food. Im hoping that if and when I post a new topic on here that it is positive and about how fantastic this cruise line is👌.
