  1. Since Virgin brand colour is red - looked up the staff uniforms for Virgin Voyages - red sneakers and an “interesting” choice of staff clothing….
  2. My first Royal Cruise was also in 2013 - Rhapsody of the Seas. I tend to flit between cruise lines based on price & itinerary but my next cruise will be Ovation out of Sydney or Quantum out of Brisbane.
  3. Went for another bushwalk after lunch. Sun was out and it warmed up to 30C. Pretty butterfly if you can spot it. Then we headed to the beach. Water temp is lovely Watched this Border Collie swimming in the ocean. Couldn’t believe how far he swam out. His boys were bodyboarding in the surf, so he would swim out to them, then swim back to his owner, the boys’ mum watching on the beach, then swim back out again (you can see him in the photo below). Did this on rotation for 45 mins.
  4. After heavy rain overnight, skies have cleared and we did an early bushwalk. This safety railing right at the end of the headland gave me Titanic vibes. Where’s Leo when you need him? 🤣
  5. Last night’s pizza was Fig & Prosciutto - tomato & garlic sauce, cheese, dried figs, red onion, feta, prosciutto, balsamic fig glaze & rocket. Haven’t had it before but will definitely have it again. Yum.
  6. After lunch, we walked down to this beach. Had the beach entirely to ourselves. Hot, humid climb back. Car said 33C. So many dragonflies as we drove back out along a dirt road.
  7. Mentioning this because it’s a cruise port - Auckland, New Zealand is under a state of emergency due to flooding. 240mm of rain. International airport closed due to flooding and Elton John’s concert cancelled at very short notice. Speaking of Elton John - my BIL drove 2 1/2 days from South Australia to see Elton John last week. heavy rain during the concert and they got absolutely drenched but loved every minute of the concert.
  8. DD is feeling the pain of the current international flight costs. She thought booking one way to London and then booking a one way one return later might be a cheaper option. Hasn’t worked out that way. One way to London $1k. Return flight with Singapore airlines $1400.00. That was the cheapest of the reputable airlines.
  9. Family friend in Canada, same age as my DD, was planning on being a competitive tennis player whilst a uni student, then she switched to flying. She has just reached her milestone 1000hrs of flying. Photo from the cockpit.
  10. How wonderful that they took his artwork on that final flight and signed it too. Wonderful memento. I would have liked to have flown the Concorde too.
  11. Hot & humid in Sydney today. Went for a lovely walk along the beach after dinner. And then enjoyed a rare ice-cream treat. DH chose strawberry cheesecake and I picked my childhood favourite flavour - rum & raisin. Yummy.
