My wife and I are going on our first Celebrity cruise on the Equinox, having cruised 15 or so times on NCL and Princess.  We are in the Retreat so we plan to eat most meals in Luminae but we were looking at having dinner in Murano for the tableside lobster.  Today I received the pre-cruise email from the Retreat Concierge and the menu for Murano has the lobster removed - you can actually see the blank space where the lobster was listed.  Can any recent cruisers confirm this?  We'll ask the concierge when we call later this week but I was wondering if anyone has first hand experience.

    Murano Menu.pdf 617.8 kB · 29 downloads

We were on the July 30th sailing of the Equinox & had lobster at Murano. Hopefully they have not removed it. And yes, it was delicious!

Thanks a bunch, I'm used to other lines' apps that don't show anything until y ou're actually on the ship. This was a big help, although as I was scrolling through it said "Venue Closed" for the dining room for nights 7,8 and 9, not sure what is up with that....

Hmm - not sure what’s up with it showing “venue closed” for the main dining room. We are on a 6 night and all 6 show. I am just hoping they revert back to the regular menu and not the test menu. They seem to be a week on a week off.

    Enjoy!

I was happy until I looked at menus for sailing starting today on Equinox.  They are back to the test menus.  Hoping someone on cruise starting today can confirm menu when they go to dinner tonight.

I just checked our sailing on the 28th- back to the test menus!!!! 😖😖

yes, hopefully we will hear from someone onboard.

And just like that the menus are back to “normal”.  They also reverted to usual MDR menus on our September sailing.

Thanks much for the update! I just checked the menus for our July 30 sailing and yes the original menus with the classics offered is back! For them to change so quickly, they must have received enough complaints. Following my letter to the Executive Office, a representative called me. From speaking with her it sounded as if the trial with the new menus would last for a while. I am quite relieved!!

The email address ExecutiveOffice@Celebrity.com is what got the FB poster an address.  Keep inudating them with emails!

I sent a lengthy email to them yesterday. They sure do need to be inundated with complaints!!  We have a July 30th sailing, so I truly hope they resolve by then - perhaps a pipe dream! As I also told them we have 7 other Celebrity cruises booked into 25. But with all of this I don’t know if we will keep them.🥲🥲

I have never seen this number of unhappy Celebrity cruisers!!

My Sept 16 Equinox sailing shows the new menu!!! To whom do I write to complain!

2nd time this year -Bait and Switch- I booked Apex TA when room service was included and Ocean View had more options. I booked Equinox last December when lobster and room service were included.  I just looked at the menu for my cruise and the UPCHARGES  are there!

So very disappointing!!  We must let our voices be heard!  No longer -Modern Luxury!

Agree 100% ! I sent an email yesterday to executiveoffice@celebrity.com. Have not heard yet, but will post if and when I do. They also need to bring back the classic menu with salmon as an option each night and upgrade the quality to what it was!

I thought this was a good e-mail address, but perhaps not...

    Delivery incomplete

There was a temporary problem delivering your message to cec@celebritycruise.com. Gmail will retry for 45 more hours. You'll be notified if the delivery fails permanently.

It is cec@celebrity.com ( not celebrity cruise) - mine went through. However based on the suggestion here, I also sent it to executiveoffice@celebrity.com

On another thread someone posted the new CEO's old RCI e-mail as lhodges@rccl.com. I wouldn't expect much from the engagement center.

Thank you for this. I will try the above email and executive office. I’ve never done this before and went with the suggestion of the Captain’s Club.

I think I used Lisa's e-mail once but I'm guessing that's no longer the best option.  Any suggestions?

I would imagine it depends on what your complaint is.

Based on the current decline of food quality and all that has changed with the menus, I sent an email yesterday to the new President & CEO. What I was told to do was to send it to CEC@celebrity .com and in the subject line write Attn: Laura Hodges Berthge - President & CEO.

    Hope this helps!

Then you were lucky, or things had been restored by April. Here are just a few of the threads about MDR menu reductions (and buffet changes) from January:

I have most recently cruised HAL and Celebrity. I would say the quality of the food in the MDR in both cases is about the same, honestly, although Celebrity's dishes score higher on presentation.

On HAL in April I sent one dish back to the kitchen. Never did that on previous Celebrity cruise!

Thank you for sharing your perspective! Sounds like you cruise often on both lines-ENJOY!

I have only read through the first 6 pages of this topic so I am not sure if my comments will be duplicates. I apologize  if they are.

Today is day 1 of our b2b2b cruise on Equinox and, unfortunately, it may be our last Celebrity cruise. We have been loyal X cruisers for over 24 years, Elite Plus and well on our way to Zenith.  So it saddens me to say this.

Many on this thread have stated that we shouldn't  judge based upon last week's  menus since it was only 6 nights. But let me give you some more observations. We have been on other Celebrity 6 night cruises and they had lobster. However, lobster isn't the only issue.  In addition to other things already stated (shrimp cocktail only every other night, cheeseburger, etc) during this 6 night cruise we had Pasta/Penne Primavera 2 nights in a row and roast pork with cabbage both Wednesday and Friday. Several nights there was no beef entree unless you ordered the sirloin steak. Most nights had 2 of the 6 entrees as meatless (portobello mushroom, some kind of potato dish, etc). For us, it was not just about the lobster, but also all the other decreases in quality.

And I know this is off the main topic and has been discussed to death. But shorts and flip-flops are now seen and apparently  accepted  throughout the MDR as well as no cover-up required over swimsuits and thong bikinis anywhere throughout  the ship (although, thankfully, that hasn't made it to the MDR yet). I wish they would discontinue posting the recommended dress  code  outside the MDR and nightly in the stateroom newsletter if is not enforced.

Sorry this was such a long post. I am waiting to get home so I can email "the powers that be" but I sadly feel, they won't  care.

Thank you for sharing this with us. Yes, it goes beyond the food. It’s sad as we too have become very comfortable sailing with Celebrity, particularly the S class ships. Based on what I have read on this and other posts as well as the menus on the app for our upcoming Equinox  sailing,  I sent an email to Laura Hodges Berthge. It’s very sad as you say that the won’t care. They certainly should, especially from someone like yourself. I have never seen so many negative comments regarding Celebrity as this week. We all have seen the prices go up and hoped they would maintain their high standards across the board. Hopefully you will be able to share your feelings while onboard.

We've sailed on 4 HAL cruises since the unpleasantness (Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam included) and we are carnivors but I gravitate to the HAL fish dishes and find them to be quite a variety and excellent.

We eat more fish when cruising that when at home...love the variety and the taste.....for sure.

Glad to hear - thank you!

X  does not really care about us customers.

I am a fund manager and I tried reaching them thru investors relations 3x, no reply.

I tried reaching them thru Legal dept, no reply. (Thats the same groups as Royal) Sent e mails to LLP-gets pushed off to someone who does not care.

Thats ok, I and my money do  not care about X in same way as before.

Royal-different story--my ex travel agent screwed up cabin selections for family trip on Oasis last Thanksgiving. We had 4 adjacent balcony cabins where we could open the panel beween all cabin balconys. Price came down but the agent somehow changed my cabin. Agent did nothing, I sent bayley an e mail and next day his office e mailed me to say they were working on it-to have another passenger who got my cabin to switch with me which happened the next day.

Made my trip to have grandsons knocking on my cabin sliding door window at 5:30 AM to go get food. Mid morning to johnny Rockets for eggs and chocolate shake with a piece of bacon standing  out ot it.

It's not always about food or entertainment that one remembers the most.

Now, that was a responsive level of impressive service.

Got to have something that keeps the paying customers coming .

So happy your cruise on Oasis with your family had the outcome it did ! Quite impressive that Bailey’s office responded as they did and came through for you!

It was all over the Celebrity boards in January about the drastic food changes. Evening buffet was decimated (since then this decision was walked back), the number and quantity of entrees in the MDR were reduced, no prime rib (many, many threads on this) and so on, lower quality proteins (like tilapia), etc.

So I'd say the food changes on X were well established by April...

Yes , I saw the many complaints about the buffet going back to January. We do not have dinner there & as of April, the MDR menus were still pretty much as they had been.

I've been a vegetarian for many years, and mostly vegan the last few years. My wife eats fish at almost any meal when it's available. On our cruise on the Rotterdam in May there were many options. The dinners were decent for me, but she was pretty happy. As @alyssammasaid, the Dive In and NY Deli and Pizza were very good (especially for vegetarians), and we would agree that Tamarind was excellent, but Canaletto not worth it.. The pizza place will also make any of their pizzas with vegan cheese, and what I had was great.

I have to add that the food on the Rotterdam was noticeably better than what we had on the Noordam several months earlier, so I think that perhaps the chefs on the newer ships... well, I'll just say the food was better, probably another example of what @Tatersdescribed about the difference.

Love your comments - thank you!  We are so hoping that the quality of ALL onboard does not change!

folks, just remember that one strategy as part of the goal was to simplify meals and choices. That cuts down on errors in the kitchen/galley and cuts waiting time for meals.

As Henry Ford said, any color as long as it was black.

Breakfast tomorrow will be Oatmeal with brown sugar, and orange juice.milk or coffee.

    Sunday is Cheerios.

Monday is scrambled eggs from mix and2 slices of bacon or sausage.

Tuesday is Pancakes with fruit topping

Imagine how fast we can get in and out of dining room.

    Same for dinner.

BBQ night, hotdogs and hamburgers and fries and a coke whther you have the drinks package or not.

Italian pizza night. 1 draught beer included. Bud Lite.

The company I worked at hired a bunch of younger (30ish) MBAs as new blood and their aggregate combined cost savings ideas came tdown too reducing benefits.

The CEO yelled at them for the idea, saying he did not need you idiots to come up with that idea. I was in room at the time and he yelled at me for letting them even present it.

Seriously though, Seasoned CEOS need to be abe to sort out the right things to to and can the dumb things, things that lose market share as once you lose it its darn difficult to get it back.

So true about loosing market share and gaining it back ! For whatever it is worth, I sent a letter  off to the new CEO of Celebrity, voicing our major concerns regarding the downgraded food quality and menu changes & from the heart expressing our concerns. So many of us are frustrated & skeptical of what  is in store for the Celebrity experience , so different from what we know.

I was on Rotterdam in October and on Nieuw Statendam in May.  Both ships had good food, but depending on the head chef on any sailing determines how good it might be.  I do eat meat, but sometimes I order the vegetarian offering on HAL ships.  They are usually very, very good!

In March/April we were onboard Oosterdam for 17 nights and I ordered the mushroom strudel for dinner.  It was absolutely wonderful and probably the best meal I had over the course of the cruise.  Then, a month later I was on Nieuw Statendam and got excited to see the same dish being served one night.  Oh WOW my disappointment!  It was mostly spinach (and I do love spinach), but there were maybe 4 slices of mushroom TOTAL and the breading/strudel was tough and tasteless.  I was so disappointed!

So it just depends. It can be good or bad depending on who is in charge of the kitchen on any particular sailing.

Funny story about you mushroom strudel!  I could not agree with you more about the chef. We have had very similar experiences. Our big big issue is the quality of the food being served. From the comments here so far, does not sound as if HAL has really downgraded. Thank you again for sharing!

I suggest you review Lido and MDR menus posted by @Crew News  I do not eat meat but I do eat seafood.  I was on the Rotterdam in February and enjoyed the seafood appetizers, vegetarian soups, salads and a variety of seafood entrees in the MDR.   Salmon is always available; I don’t remember seeing tilipia on the menu (but I would never order it so maybe I overlooked it.). I like fixed dining, my waiter often suggested pasta entrees that could be made without meat.  I like the smaller portion size so I can try a few different things but often order extra vegetables because it seemed like they were only used to “garnish” the plate.

Loved the NY Deli freshly made pizza or a portabella burger from the Dive In for lunch.

Thank you so much for your feedback- exactly what I was looking for! I will have a look at the menus. Sounds like we have many similarities in our food tastes! . We would never eat Tilapia either and now on Celebrity it is a prime seafood offering!

Pizza on HAL was always a favorite ! Agree about the chef , however it starts with quality , that’s what Celebrity is now starting to lack. Lots for us to consider!

    Thank you again!

Food quality is highly subjective as you know.

I last sailed on X in February. Not sure what "recently" means to you, but I loved the food then. I say this because if you mean X changed prior to Feb, then you should probably discount what I have to say 🙂

Sailed NS last month and loved *most* of the food. Found Canaletto to be not good at all. Pinnacle and Rudi's to be hit or miss (some things were very good while others were not). Tamarind was insanely good. Perhaps the best specialty restaurant I've dined at on a cruise.

The free places (Dive-In, Pizza) were really good...especially the Pizza as they had wings, breakfast sandwiches (and breakfast), and other things. Don't get me started on the Dutch cafe...probably gained 10lbs from eating there.

Rarely did the buffet, but when I did it was hit or miss - some things excellent, others not so much.

Dinner for me was in Club Orange. All meals there were excellent.

Thank you for your feedback . Yes, earlier this year Celebrity’s food was fine. We last sailed in April. The quality has slowly started to deteriorate and the menu changes are very recent.

On HAL we would normally dine in the main dining room and buffet for breakfast and lunch. Never had an issue back then. Could not agree with you more on Tamarind!
