You can order the meat 'plain', or even sauce on the side, in case you aren't sure.
You can always order a baked potato or mashed---do check on what is in the mashed potato first, though. French fries are typically not offered, but are on the children's menu, so can be ordered (it may take extra time).

You may also want to see the next night's menu before you leave the dining room to get an idea what you might be interested in.
Oh, and there's always the children's menu to consider.

    Thanks!!!

A large part of cruising is doing things differently than your usual routine.  Get crazy.  Order something that you normally would not eat at home.

On my last cruise we all tried a little bite of each others dinner and I tried escargot for the first time - didn't hate it, didn't love it but wasn't awful.  I tried lobster and YUCK.  But I tried and I am willing to try again.

  3. Help!  I have been going over the sample menus I am finding for the main dining room on the Oosterdam and I am the worlds pickiest eater.  I know I can ask for steak, can I ask for chicken?  i see sometimes it is chicken with rice pilaf.  But I like fries or potatoes of some kind, can I order fries like I always did on Carnival?  I think the worst part is there is no description on a lot of the menus and I have no idea what to expect.  Thank you all!!!

Thanks KCK,  I am in Olathe !   I went ahead and bought a pass giving 5pm...I hope this is just a strange way of booking otherwise I will have to use it in the evening.  It is interesting to see that as a solo pays more than a couple. Divide the couple price and it is not as much as one person. I will enjoy this cruise no matter what , need some sunshine.

Yea Kansas!!!!  Have a great cruise!!

  5. I just assumed when it asked for a time when I signed up for the thellasatherapy or however you spell it, pool  that meant the time it (the physical pass) would show up in my stateroom.  When i buy onboard credit I have to tell it when I want it and I ask for it on embarkation day.  Could be a crazy theory????

I said, I'd give it a try.  If it's a fluid mix, it's sometimes not as bad as the powered mixes.  I truly hate the powered mixes.

Me too!!  When I was a kid I sat right by the kitchen window during dinner and the wind would blow the ice tea off my dad and mom's spoons as they were making their instant Ice tea and Yuck that smell and flavor ewwwww.... I'll try HAL's tea once and see what I think!  Have a great cruise Shmoo!

  7. It will be interesting to see the clientele, I am in my mid - early really - fifties and will be traveling with a lady that is 80 and a couple that will both be turning 75 on the cruise or just before.  My first HAL cruise but so looking forward to it!
