  1. I’ve done both. The glacier sled dog is in the top 3 excursions I’ve ever taken. The summer camp was cute, but it’s not really a substitute. The price of the glacier tour is probably twice what I paid when I did it, though, so I’m glad I don’t have to decide. If you can convince yourself to spend that much, then it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
  2. Thanks for the quick response. Emailed my PCC same question 5 days ago and never heard back.
  3. Question: do you get Mariner cruise day credits for free cruises?
  4. Hank, I’m curious which line(s) you think may deliver a better product. I don’t have a lot of experience with different lines, so just asking your opinion. Also, thanks for all of the information. We are booked on the Westerdam next year, and since I’ve never been to Japan, it has all been very helpful.
  5. We were on NA in Neptune Suite 5187 last summer in Alaska and loved it. With such a nice cabin and only one week onboard, we didn’t get much use out of the Neptune Lounge.
  6. Flew into Vancouver today. Had ArriveCan ready to go, but was not asked for it. Most people on the flight from the US were not wearing masks. We were told onboard when we landed that masks were mandatory in the YVR airport, but I would say maybe 50-60% of people were wearing them. The only problem that we’ve encountered is that VeriFly is still showing that covid testing is required for our 10/2 cruise, although HAL has advised us that it is not required. Not sure that they will get VeriFly updated in time for us. Oh well.
  7. Love Love the golf cart suggestion, It looks like they are rented out for 2 hours. Is that enough time to see whatever there is to see?
  8. Thank you all for your ideas and tips. You’ve given me some great options to look into. The CruiseCritic community always comes through. Best.
  9. My husband and I booked a cruise out of Vancouver. We are hoping to spend a couple of days in Victoria and a couple in Vancouver. My husband doesn’t walk well, which leaves me juggling luggage, carry-on, etc. I’ve been looking at different options to visit Victoria. Here’s what looks easiest to me, but I could use validation or other ideas. I’m not familiar enough with Vancouver/Victoria/ferries/other to know whether or not this would be the best way for us to do it. My thought is to fly to Vancouver, rent a car, drive to Tsawwassen, take the ferry to Victoria, then reverse a couple of days later and return to Vancouver before the cruise. Does this seem easiest or are there other options that might be better for us? If this is the best way, how much time would you allow between flight arrival and ferry departure? Is there anything else that I need to know about booking/using the ferry? I’m new to that mode of transportation. Again, any ideas and/or advice to make this as easy as possible will be appreciated. 10. Was on Niuew Amsterdam 7/31 - 8/7 and almost everyone onboard was wearing masks … except for the gentleman in the sundry store with the mask under his chin, drink in hand, buying NyQyuil and cough drops. Wish I was kidding, but true story. Fewer masks on the land portion after the cruise, and as the week wore on, there were even less. None of the tour operators, shop keepers or restaurant workers wore them.
