  1. The airport is on the opposite end of the island from Mallory Square.

IF the ship were to dock on the military base, you'd have to hop a shuttle to get off-base before you could get a taxi or Lyft or Uber to the airport.

I'd be more concerned with the return time of the excursion since with a private excursion if you miss the ship, you're SOL.

  2. You'd need to take a Lyft or Uber there. IDK if it's near where SkyDive Key West is, but that was probably 20 minutes at least.

Mallory Square docking means early departure (like the 3pm one) because the ship has to be away before sunset.

Put a luggage tag on the top and hand it to the luggage attendent

That is how we bring on seltzer, etc

    Never a problem
“Always tip your luggage attendant” 😊

Not for glass bottles! Have you seen the way luggage gets tossed around and piled up. Those bottles break, you're not only out all the drinks you were trying to bring aboard but you're going to be paying for cleaning or replacement of every item your drinks and broken bottles damaged.

The rules say beverages you bring must be carried on.

Just because the porters will take it doesn't mean it's right. They'd take anything you slapped a tag on if you tipped them enough.

Seems like this is more kid oriented?  Has anyone done Wonderland on any of the Royal ships?  We did, it was "entertaining" and yes, a "one and done".  From what I'm reading here, I'd rather take my 4 night specialty dining elsewhere on the Beyond....Prove me wrong?

Wonderland is much more like Eden than LPC.

Not to belabor the issue  but sometimes teachers who are specialists  do get a better response.  We have a  " busy"

(euphemism) grandson, who has made huge strides in listening skills..Also  a little guy who loves to climb.. but  we are leaving balcony decisions to the parents who know them best!

as an aside, the second grader was shown a video on  wearing seat belts yesterday, and what can happen if you don't. Made a big impression. Maybe more than we realize sinks in!

He was actually taught that by his parents. They told us that in his IEP meeting.

kids do not always listen !

So parents need to have consequences. To just say "they don't always listen" and throw your hands up is doing them a disservice.

I teach special education so I know how they don't always want to listen. BUT I also know that I have students who have in the past run from their parents, but with their parents patiently working with them they have learned. I have one - a particularly "busy" kid - who has been taught not to run in the street and will actually point and say "No! Car! Die!"

But yes - if someone is just saying "they don't listen" and throwing up their hands rather than teaching their kids to listen, a cruise may not be the vacation for them. Because there are rails to climb besides the ones on the balcony.

I’ve been traveling with young children in balcony cabins…..first my own and then grandchildren for the past 25 years. The thing is…. you have to actually watch them. It’s not that difficult.

    Well said!!

I don't have kids, but I've never understood the "no balcony because of my kids". First, as has been said, there is always a lock up high (or at least on every ship with balcony cabins I've been on. Second, the door can be tough for even adults to open. And third - and most important - WATCH YOUR KIDS! And teach them to listen when you say no!

  9. If you're able to get them on board (they would have to be carried on - NOT checked, especially as those are weaker bottles than wine bottles), PLEASE don't take them on the pool deck. No glass is allowed on those.

  10. Anyone heard anything about 10248? Not that there's anything I can do about it now since my sailing is pretty much sold out. The only video I can find doesn't have any sound and actually mislabels it as it's of 10284 not 10248 like its title says (in spite of the very first bit showing the cabin number - Deck 10 cabin 284).

I was thinking of doing Hideaway beach for $27 on my upcoming Beyond cruise. I just reserved it, but might cancel. Thank you for the information.

I will just say that when I was on Coco Cay during my Anthem cruise, I had a day bed on South Beach and was directly on the other side of the foliage (a pretty good distance PLUS all the leaves between them) from Hideaway and I could clearly hear the music blasting and thumping. I can only imagine how loud it would be there.

That may not bother you, but it's something to be aware of. It may be adult-only, but it's not meant to be serene...it's meant to be a party.

Our travel agent sends us a final payment reminder a week ahead of the ship's final payment deadline.

Mine SETS final payment a week ahead of the cruise's in case of issues with a card, etc.

I always tell whoever I'm booking (cruise line or a TA) with exactly what we want, ship, date, itinerary, cabin number, etc. IMO, anything above that, best price, discounts, OBC, etc. is part of their job. At least a good agent will.

We took our second cruise, first Celebrity Cruise in 1994 on the Zenith. Even had to pay to join the Captains Club. At that time it was called the Founders Club.

This. It's really not that hard to tell my TA what cabin I would like (I always give her a few options in case my first choice is gone by the time she gets it - which is always within 24 hours, usually less...but I'd rather give her more just in case).

And as I've worked with her, she has gotten to know what I like, so honestly I hardly NEED to tell her any more as she can look at availability and book what I'd prefer.

In order for her to have access to a waterslide do we need to purchase the Thrill Waterpark Day Pass

Yes. And you'd need to purchase one for yourselves as well. The only people admitted are those with passes. Even those who aren't going on the slides but are accompanying others.

some spring break dates are odd this yr .some local high schools in NY are having it next week

    check around

I think trips including Coco Cay will attract more  breakers

NYC’s public schools (and maybe some others in the area) always have their Spring Break over Passover. In non-Leap Years that usually coincides with Easter. But in Leap Years it tends to be later.

  16. When it is closed for cleaning (happens in port), they should put advance notice in the Compass the night before.

For weather related closures, I haven't experienced that, but I would guess it should be fairly obvious from the weather if it's a possibility. I don't know that they call all the staterooms and say "We are locking them due to weather."

Looking to book a cruise for next June.  Currently Beyond is the only ship listed.  Just wondering what is going on with Reflection?  Sorry if this has been answered but didn't find anything when searching.

Reflection is out of Ft. Lauderdale and Beyond is out of Miami. Both up.
