  1. I'll let you in front of me if you'll let me in front of you!😁
  2. Hmmm, I never said I was going to leave it up indefinitely or unattended, did I? I will hang it on Independence Day, when we are in a US port and ensure it is properly secured and if I do leave the balcony for an extended time, I will remove it. Not because I'm concerned one bit about the ocean, but I would never want to dishonor the US Flag by allowing it to touch the ground or surface of the sea. I will remove it when I turn in for the night and see that it is properly and respectfully stowed.
  3. I think we'll chance it and fly Old Glory on the Fourth. What's the worst that can happen? We're asked to remove it...
  4. Well, in our case, we want to celebrate Independence Day. When we cruised over Christmas, we put up some decorations as well.
  5. Hi all, Just wondering if any kind of decorations are permitted to be hung on the balcony railings? We'll be on a cruise over Independence Day and would like to hang some appropriate banners on our railing. I think I could use either zip ties or some suction cup holders for it. Does RCI permit this? Has anyone seen or done this? Thanks.
  6. Can't wait for our July 1 cruise! We don't mind some rough seas as long as most folks aren't affected by seasickness and/or delays due to docking issues - I don't want anyone's trip tainted by either. With that said, we kind of like the roll of the ship in more active weather...
  7. I always take a rope and some clothespins to hang wet garments on the balcony, oh, and I always book a cabin with a balcony.
  8. We're sailing Quantum on July 1 out of Seattle. I am most interested in what they say about Skagway. We have an excursion booked there through RCI that we really hope not to miss. If they provide any update on the accessibility for future cruises, I'd be much obliged if you'd share them. Enjoy your cruise and your anniversary!
  9. True, but they are one more article of clothing to pack. I do have waterproof trail shoes and a raincoat that has some length to it. I am planning to use some kind of fabric spray on a couple of my pants that can convert to shorts, assuming we'll hit rain on some of our excursions. It may not work, but then again, it may... Thanks.
  10. On our last cruise aboard Wonder I had one of those roast beef sandwiches, k-something, I think. Anyway, does Quantum have a venue that offers these? Oh, and what are they actually named? Thanks.
  11. Hi All- Preparing for our first Alaska cruise and am wanting to treat a couple pair of pants with some sort of waterproofing. What products have you found to do well? Thanks.
  12. Well, actually some have a online check-in date one day earlier than those in the JS, according to the Royal Caribbean mobile application. But we all plan to travel to the terminal together, check-in, and hopefully board together.
  13. Ten of us are sailing out of Seattle this summer. Four cabins total in the group, but one is a Junior Suite. Those in the balcony cabins (non-JS) have an earlier check-in date by one day than those in the JS. On embarkation day, will we all be able to check in and board together, or will those in the JS get priority boarding and just have to wait on the rest? We'd like to all have lunch together after boarding. Thanks.
  14. Thanks that's good to know about the terminal doors. We are planning to arrange a shuttle at 9:15 from the Med Inn. We don't mind hills, being from NE TN it's hard to walk anywhere without hitting them! I like the idea of the monorail and would like to learn more about its route. Thanks.
  15. Hmmm. We're doing a whale-watching tour with Harv & Marv's in Juneau, so won't be renting a car. Too bad, sounds like a neat place. Thanks.
  16. Well, we're kinda bursting at the seams now and will have to cull quite a bit of what we've already packed, so I'll just have to rely on my own natural insulation! Good suggestion though.
  17. Bummer! I do hope he found whatever he lost.
  18. Great! We plan to catch a shuttle from the Mediterranean Inn to Pier 91 at about 9:00 AM. So. I'll have to hoof it down to PP to get the flowers, then hoof it back before then! About a 30-minute walk each way from what Google Map shows, should be easily doable assuming they are open at 8:00 AM! Thanks much!
  19. Doing some research for transportation from SEA-TAC (Alaska Airlines) to the Mediterranean Inn located at the corner of Queen Ave N. and W. Republic St. Four of us with luggage arriving on a Friday morning around 10:00 AM. Would the light rail be a good option? How far from baggage claim to the rail station? We can walk fine, but pulling/carrying luggage too far may make the wives unhappy and the husbands worn out! Thanks
  20. We're planning to rent e-bikes at the cruise port in Sitka. I will take some trunks with me, along with a towel and some water shoes. Looks like there are a couple places to swim at Sandy Beach Day Use Area and Halibut Point Recreation Site; both are on the way back to the port just off Halibut Pointe Road. Both look to have public restrooms! Plan is to ride around Sitka for the day, then on the ride back to the port, stop at one or the other for a quick dip, then return the bikes and hit the cabin for a nice hot shower!
  21. Cool! We're sailing on Quantum out of Seattle this July, on our anniversary, so I'd like to take a big bunch onboard for the wife...she deserves it after putting up with me for this loooonnnggg! What time does Pike's Place open on Mondays? I'd like to pick up some flowers the morning we board, but may have to grab them the night before. Will flowers be sold on Sunday afternoon/evening? Good information here. Thanks.
  22. Me too! I have never even touched a gambling mechanism and have not the foggiest idea of how to even start one of those things spinning! Of course I am so financially risk averse (my wife would say cheap) that I wouldn't bet that the sun rises tomorrow. Still, I'd like to try the casino (smoke-free) just once for the thrill??
  23. I booked our Junior Suite online last summer for our July 2024 Alaskan cruise and have watched the prices online since until they showed sold out; the fares always went up, not down. I recently called RCI after I had made the final payment to see if re-pricing was an option. I was told by the agent that there were no more JSs available therefore he could not check the current fare of a that same type of cabin. He looked at the other classes of cabins and told me that their fares had increased. I think from what I've read and heard that this particular cruise is either sold out or nearly so. Yours might differ. In the past I've had success in getting lower fares up to a certain point, even after final payment. I think once I was given onboard credits instead of a refund for some reason that I cannot recall. As stated above, it can't hurt to ask. "You have not because you ask not"
  24. ?? No idea what that means.
  25. I'm hoping to take a quick dip in the sea while on our Alaskan cruise this July. Are there any places that provide easy, safe access to water from the shore at any of the ports listed above? I'm not talking about doing laps, but I would like to experience it once. Thanks.
