I just had the same conversation about the CC discount. They would not apply it to the reduced price, not even to the "undiscounted" price of $15 pp/pd. They quoted me the same $400.80 including 20% gratuity with a 15% CC discount that I had originally had and cancelled to get the lower price. I just booked the upgrade directly in the cruise planner for $335.60 including grat but without the CC discount. It's still cheaper than what they wanted to charge me including the discount. Go figure.

Just off the phone.  I was quoted the exact same price but she said this was with my CC discount.  They have their own funny math.  Anyway, I saved about $65, its all paid with OBC, so I'm not going to complain.

Thanks for this.  I’m in exact same situation.  Cancelled my $400.80 upgrade and will call today to get my CC discount.  Will report back.

  3. To update:  I called today to upgrade my package.  The Captains Club agent was not aware of the new "$20 pp pd including gratuities" as of October 4 but said that likely meant cruises booked October 4 or later.  That's not what the FAQ says, but I didn't push it because I suspect that is the case anyway.

So my cost was $20 pp pd plus gratuity less my 15% Elite Plus discount.  I'll see if there is any better sale before I sail but I just wanted to get it done, and the cost was mostly covered by OBC.

  4. I had read earlier FAQs about the cost reported to be $20 including gratuity to upgrade to premium drink package.   The cruise planner is still showing the original pricing, less the "fabulous" 5% so $18.99 per day plus gratuity.  I am going to call to upgrade with my Captains Club benefit but just wondering if there's any experience within the last day or two.

Thanks for the heads up. I debated cancelling excursions I’d booked under the Memorial Day sale because the Canadian dollar has dropped since then but I saved $55 Canadian. May now book a dinner package.

Same here.  We had some excursions booked during the Memorial Day Flash Sale and the July 4 flash sale (all using OBC).  They are all a lower base price now, so we saved on all of them.

  6. We have three cruises booked through a TA.  I assume they are or will sort this out for us.  One is paid in full.  Two are in 2024.  Hate to think they may be our last.  All the nickel and diming and lowering of quality leaves me disappointed.

I just checked and the sale seems to be 5% off the upgrade price, NOT 50%.

    $20 down to $18.99.

In this case the Elite Plus discount is still better.

It depends on your cruise.  I have three booked.  Two of them have the 5% off pricing, so the E+ discount is better.  One had the 50% off pricing.  And its been changing all weekend.  So keep an eye out, I think sale is on through tomorrow.

I didn’t say no impact.  We are just a small portion of the feedback.  It is estimated that CC members are 5% or so of the cruising population.  And then only a small portion of that will send the vaping emails. And many of those unlike @Georgia_Peaches will not be onboard one of the impacted ships.  So less relevant to the immediate issue for Celebrity’s “test”.  So better for passengers on these ships and sailings to provide direct feedback IMO.

Though I don’t disagree CC members are a small proportion of the cruising population, a few more on other social media, but I’d guess the vast majority of cruisers have no idea this experiment is under way.  Maybe one of Celebrity’s semi daily or more emails could advise guests of this “great new feature” that we only have eight weeks to enjoy.  Before it’s gone for good.  Or extended.

  9. Celebrity seems to be refining their standard response.  Here’s what I just received.

Thank you so much for this valuable feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time to contact the Executive Offices at Celebrity Cruises.

This test is currently taking place in the casinos on the Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Eclipse through August 20th. It is a test at this point, and all feedback is being taking into consideration, so again, thank you.

As a brand we will continue to keep our guests as the main focus, and you taking the time to reach out is truly beneficial and appreciated. Again, thank you so much for the feedback provided regarding our recent change.

  10. Sent my note this morning, and suggested I was aware of their standard reply so no need to send me the same one ....  I told them I was skeptical that a trial that has only been in place for 2-3 days is already garnering on-board reports from guests that say no problem.  I told them my concerns about increased "sneaking a puff" at other indoor areas, and in fact this already happens.  I asked them if they had some new research that suggested there are newly discovered health benefits of vaping or second hand vape inhaling that led them to come up with this idea that they could share with all of us.  Or perhaps, their research indicates a correlation between vaping/smoking and gambling?   Who knows.

  11. We don’t frequent the casino but I too will be voicing my concerns to Celebrity on this policy change trial.  It’s only a matter of time till they then open it up to other indoor areas.  The “aromas” and the vapours are unpleasant and only a vaper or a smoker would say they are negligible, let alone harmless.

  12. We have this issue upcoming in November on Beyond.  We have the AI for all guests in the booking (I have six bookings, some with four to a room including children).  The AI also includes the gratuities for the children.  We didn't need or want the zero proof drinks or internet either but it wasn't an option if we wanted AI for the adults.
